So, I've read about half if all the posts on this thread and I'm still am not sure which direction to go. My son, inherited my '03 DCSB. It's time for a new suspension and he has decided he wants to raise it a bit to run desert trails and forest roads while in Arizona for college. The rear leafs sit completely horizontal but this may be due to the a LEER topper which has been attached for the past 16 years. He found a nice deal on a rear bumper with a swing out from another member here on TW, so that'll be another few pounds that will need full time support. He would like to raise the truck about 2", run some 255 skinnies and may in the future look for a front bumper.

    Thanks!

Old Man Emu lift kit with 881s. I have an 02 and went with this kit. Have a leer 100r cap and also went with OME's AAL. With nitrochargers all around, I'm satisfied with the stance and amount of lift. I currently have an ARB bumper without winch but may add one later. If so, will switch out coils then. For now, satisfied.

Check with Josh over at @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc - he'll be able to answer any Q's and square away what you need. He was awesome when I was researching my kit.

Here is the kit I went with (AAL is additional) - Screenshot_20190714-112126.jpg

For the 255's, going to suggest SPC Upper Control Arms... I went with these when I moved to 255/85/16's.

@BTB posted this in the lunchtable thread but should be here as well. Interesting OME maintenance and general info from a ARB Cert Shop Tech.

Anyone else really unhappy with the fact that Dakars ride flat? Like they hold the height with an AAL barely (a bunch of weight) but since it's flat at ride height, it basically makes my bumps contact WAY too early.

If you have a bumper and winch would having 4 Nitro chargers with 881's give you the same ride as 2 with 882's? and when would 883's become necessary?

Went from 4600 with stock TRD coils to 5100 (set at 0") with OME 881 coils, and a Wheelers 3-leaf progressive 1.5" AAL
*the Wheelers AAL was added to brand new General Springs standard duty leaf springs, and I left the overload leaf in place, so I actually got 4" of lift in the rear, which has now settled to 3+

Yeah, but they arent really made to hold weight. Also I think most leafs ride flat on our trucks, could be wrong tho

Say what now? 881s dont work well with weight up front if you want a bit lof lift. Gp for 882s instead. I personally haven't run the 883s so I wont reccomend them. But 882s, ARB front bumper and a winch work awesome. Though you may want a 10mm top plate spacer to get 3" of lift.

I know this is a pretty old post but could you tell my your tire info. I'm doing an OME 2" lift, 883's, bumper/winch, cap, tent..... and keeping the same stock rims. Looking for the right tire size. Thx

I ran 265/75/16 BFG KO2's. Worked great for mileage, a touch of fender rubbing in front, and kept my towing/freeway running right in the powerband.

Thanks for the reply. I would love to see some pics of some trucks with 33's that got it figured out. I went through all 228 pages here and many were still working towards it. More pics please with OME set ups and what tire/wheel combos are working. I'm looking for no rubbing, no CV boot blow outs ect. I understand it's a work in progress to get it right for everyone's different set ups. Love this thread and what I have learned.

Tacoverlander, could you provide some wheel/tire specs on your first Gen. I realize this was a long time ago but I dig this truck and wanna know if you kept everything clear from rubbing with this set up. Thx

Pretty sure those are 255/85/16 km2s on some sort of Toyota spare wheels.

You’re not going to fit a 255/85 without a little trimming. Nothing crazy though.

Ok, thanks, that's the straight up answer I was looking for. I like those 255s though. Did you need any wheel spacers with those steelies?

Without knowing what they came from, it’s hard to say for sure, but most likely if you want to stay off the frame. Mine rubbed frame at full lock plus full bump when they were new at 4.0” backspace. Stock 1st gen wheels are 4.5”.

List of the other things I had to do to get them to fit is referenced on page 1 of my build.

It was an awesome size for me. Big fan of that tire too.

This is correct on the tire size and Toyota Tundra spare wheel. I had 1.5” spacers as well. As far as scrubbing, I only scrubbed at full lock while hitting a bump. To correct this, I install the 1” body lift from 4Crawler that completely eliminated any scrubbing. Hope this helps.
