got some dakars on offerup, considering going nitrochargers all around. a lot of the kits have greasable shackels, exhaust hanger relocation and brake line extensions and what not. seeing if all of that stuff is necessary or are shops just bundling it all in as a kit.

Greasable shackles are a good idea. I wound up using an extended brake line and the exhaust bracket for my setup. Some folks argue that the bracket isn't absolutely necessary. I also added 3 degree shims and a BAMF brake proportioning valve bracket.

did you go with 0" shackle or 1/2" shackle? and I'm assuming those a 1/2" lift on top of the leaf pack too?

I bought my setup from Wheeler's. Comes with the GS12 shackles. I wanted my truck leveled out with the 881 coils up front.

If I install 883’s without a bumper will I need a diff drop? Control arms will also be replaced. I do plan on adding a trail gear front bumper in the next couple of months. Thanks

I'm looking at the old man emu kit for my 1998 Tacoma Limited.
I'm stuck on what option for the leaf springs:
The single add a leaf, the progressive three leaf or the full Dakar pack.

The truck is mostly going to be a daily, but I live in northern Nevada so there are a lot of trails to explore when the mood strikes. Any help would be appreciated.

I've also been looking at the Fox coilovers too.

once again thanks for any advice.

if your stock leaf pack is still good then the AAL will be fine. if they're worn and you plan on loading the bed than i'd recommend getting the full dakar pack.

Im forced to replaced my rear leafs so I'm going with dakar springs. Don't plan on having front bumper or a fiberglass top in the rear. Looking for 2.5-3" lift and I want it to be fairly level. I'm torn between the 881's and the 882's. Hoping someone can weigh in on this.

My PreRunner has 881s and sits level with about 2-2.5", but that's without the extra weight of the front diff and driveline components. Consider the extra lbs on your rig, for sure.

Are OME shocks considered linear or degressive?

So 882 would have about the same results?

I'm not entirely sure. I think I read that 882 are taller but have the same spring rate as 881, whereas 883 is the same height as 881, but higher spring rate.

Yes. Installed without changing the number of leafs in the packs. Eventually, I need to get super bump stops.

email wheelers or marie at headstrong they'll lead you in the right direction. typically no weight then go with 881. if youre doing 5100's they're adjustable anyways even though its highly recommended AGAINST putting any other coil than stock on any of the notches for the 5100's although some people have with no issues. this will void warranty too so theres that.
option 1a: 881 on the bottom clip and see if its enough lift for you
option 1b: throw a spacer on
option 1c: put the coil on one of the higher clips (you've been warn)
option 2: 882 and the ride will most likely be be rough (wheelers recommends using 882 and 883 only if you have weight up front)

Wheelers recommended 883 for a dc v6 and that was with no added weight. Confused by your post, are you dc or extra cab?

Yeah no. DC 6cyl here and I'm on 881s paired with nitrochargers and ended up adding an ARB bumper (no winch). Fine with the ride, no issues. Dakars w/AAL and nitros in rear.
