How does the spacer affect your ride, I've heard a lot of people say they don't like them cause it makes it stiffer?

Doesn't affect it at all. It sits between the top of the strut assembly and the strut mount basket on the frame. No pre-compression of the spring.

I don't use a very tall one, 1/2", and won't be going any taller. I'll be glad when I get the winch mounted and drop the nose a little more, lessen the steepness on the CV axles. IFS's are a bitch to lift properly.

Do you automotive sages feel that the trim packer is necessary? What about the 10mm lift enhancer kit? Do either affect ride? Positives/negatives? I'm running the OME kit from Wheelers with 883s in the front. I plan on adding an ARB Bull bar and Warn XRC 8. I already replaced my CV axles, as well as the inner/outer tie rod ends. In addition, I have Camburg Uniball UCAs in route to help out with things. Thoughts? I've been reading this massive thread in bits & pieces, but it's out of control lol.

    Thanks, gents!!

Wheelers Offroad is where I got mine. Currently, they are selling the entire kit for $1180

I don't know. I bought the original lift over 4 years ago through 4WheelParts. I seem to recall it was around $1100. The front-end I've had to experiment with to get it right and I've bought all the springs and struts through Wheeler's. I'm still finding out that the kit I got from 4WheelerParts wasn't all that it was made out to be (Just front C/Os and Dakars leaf packs). No BPV relocation, no greasable shackles, no rear axle relocation plates, etc.

That reminds me. The 882s were so tall, I had to go to aftermarket UCAs with Uniballs to account for the angles. The passenger side stock UCA was forcing the spindle top into the spring.

The trim packer is pretty close to a must, with the Taco lean. It is only 8 bucks after all. Mine still has it but think my fat-ass has squished the body mounts on the driver side and with the location of the gas tank, the leaf pack needs to be adjusted somehow to account for the weight on that side.

I started out with no top plate spacer then went to 10mm when I added the bumper, then 1/2" when I added the IFS skid. I've noticed no degradation in ride quality. After researching things and experimenting with my own truck, I don't recommend going over 1/2" and I'd wait to install them until you have the added weight. Having the extended studs installed and not using the spacer shouldn't be a problem.

I definitely did! Although, it should be noted that I put my lift on with 145k miles. I went ahead and bought some new CV axles with lifetime warranties in the event something happens to them, I'll go to O'Reilly's Auto and get new ones.

My inners went out about 40k miles after installing the lift. This was with already having 80k miles on the boots. Fairly simple to replace and do the boot slide mod to keep them from tearing.

    My outers were just fine.

    TomTom,
Thanks for your input!! I had the same thoughts, but I've found it's always good to check, re-check and check again with folks with similar set ups. I'm supposed to install the bumper and winch this weekend with a buddy of mine; so, I'll order the 10mm lift enhancer shortly thereafter. The trim packer is in route with my UCAs, which should be arriving next week...I hope!!!

I've been looking at the OME parts and was wondering if the 880 coils with OME Nitro shocks with a 1.5" AAL in the rear would be good on my truck? Its an 03 4wd extended cab 2.7l with 31x1050x15 tires. Or would I be better off with the 881s without the top plate? I don't want a full 3", closer to 1.5-2.5 max.

In my opinion, you'd be better off with the 881s. Take that with a grain of salt as I don't have them myself.

For a 2.7 the 880 should be fine imo. Its already a few hundred pounds less than the v6

I agree. I have both top .5 spacers on mine, going to take the passenger side out. Better to be safe than sorry. Love my 881's.

Is anyone running the 881s on a 4cyl without the top spacer with a 1.5" aal? From the things I'm reading I should get 2.25" or slightly more with either a level truck or a small rake which I would like. I'm looking at either that or the 880s with no rear lift but I'm afraid with my worn leafs I might get more of a bro lift than a level truck. My springs still look good and they're not sagging but they're of course far from new. I really need to keep this job under $1000 including labor but I have a buddy that will do the install for no more than half what a normal shop would charge and he can get me an alignment done for cheap too.

    http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_OME_coils.html

The springs are 2880, 2881, etc

FWIW Kurt from Cruiser Outfitters said that the 881s + Dakars will settle to 2.25" of lift.

And that the 6DXL AALs will add 3/4" of additional lift.

I highly recommend you, or your buddy, call Kurt, Dan from Wheelers and/or Dylan from Toytec. They are all incredibly helpful.
