The ubolts are 90ft/lbs, supposed to torque them, check them at 50 and 100 miles.
The others I don't remember off the top of my head but: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...ld-man-emu-setups-1st-gen-61.html#post8718539

Hello all, I am a new member here and this is my first post. So last week I sold my 1999 ext. Cab Taco. I bought that truck back in 2006 and quickly swapped in the OME 881/Nitrocharger CO's and the Wheelers 4 leaf pack with Nitrochargers in the rear as well. Great set - up and a lot of fun over the years with that truck. No issues whatsoever. Anyway I sold that truck and bought a really clean '03 TRD DC the next day. My new truck has a fiberglass top and is rhino lined. I really haven't kept up on any of this since I upgraded my last truck and frankly I'm getting a little frustrated.

I am certain that I want the complete OME kit for my truck. I will be dealing with Wheelers again. Where I am confused is why does Wheelers advertise 2.25" of lift with the Dakar's and then when I call and talk to them they say I'll get 3"+ from them? Then I scour this thread and the concensus is 2.25"? My goal is 2" - 2.25" front and back. What front coil should I go with that will level up the best with the Dakar's on my 4x4 dc? If I go by the Wheelers site then 882 but again from reading here they will sit higher than the Dakar's. Would 881's with the 10mm spacer be a better bet? I don't want to get into aal's or longer shackels for the rear. I'll also be upgrading to 265/75r16 General Grabber AT2's at the same time. Thanks in advance for any clarity you all can bring to some of this for me in my decision. :)

P.S. When I talked to the guy at Wheelers yesterday (Kurt I believe?) He indicated I would need to remove one of the overloads on the Dakar's to sit more level with 882 springs?

This is very interesting. Every truck I've worked on had 35mm but every so often peeps post they have 36mm CV nuts. One of these days the rhyme and reason will get figured out.

Thanks bud! For some reason when I saw your truck in my phone browser I thought it was a ext. cab. Looks great BTW! Where did you get your gear from? So then would 882 coils be too tall do you think?

If you did 882 coils you'd need the AAL most likely. 881+spacer I'm guessing will be a better fit from what you described ^

I originally had 882s w/ no AAL and no weight on the front bumper and sat about level.

There might be some pictures in my build page or I'll have to dig through my personal stash later tonight.

Ok, yea I'm on Wheelers site now and the 882 coils have a free height of 395mm and the 881's are 375mm. So the 881's with a 10mm spacer are still 10mm shorter than the 882's. The whole conversation with the guy from Wheelers had me all confused to be honest. He claimed the Dakars would sit higher than the 882 springs once installed. Anyway, how bout an obligatory pic of my new truck before I lift it and put new shoes on. ;) Thank you for the comments!

All 4 corners of my truck are within 3/16 of an inch on a concrete shop floor..dakars. 881 withe 10mm spacer and a 5mm trim packer on the drivers side.

882s are gonna be higher than the dakars by an inch. I would bet on it

Idk about an inch, maybe at first before they settle. I'm thinking about 1/2-3/4 but maybe my memory is fading.

To get a cookie cutter, off the shelf, 'canned' lift to be exactly what you want will be difficult. If you listen to what people here have to say you'll get close to what you want. I'd suggest maybe the 881s on 5100s. Then you can adjust the front some as needed to match the rear. On the rear you have a camper. Not everyone runs one, so suggestions vary. Again, I'd say go with the Dakars and bank on them not riding so high with the weight of the camper. Also, you may need to adjust rear height via a longer or shorter shackle than OEM. But by having the 5100 fronts you have an option of changing ride height to suit your needs.

I have posted various before/after setups in this thread, most including a shell. Check it out, may help.

Here is one I found comparing the difference before and after lift shackles. First pic is just dakars and 882, second is same but 1.5" lift shackles out back. I was pretty much dead nuts level with the 1.5" lift shackle.

    Good info! Thank you!

My '99 rode great with the OME shocks and struts. I just really prefer to stick with those over the 5100's only because I have been running them for nearly 8 years. When I lifted my '99 and even to this day the stance was/is perfect but I do admit the hauling capacity of the Wheelers 4 leaf pack kinda sucked so that is why I want to try Dakar's on this truck. At first I was going to do SAW 2.0 CO's with the Dakar's and 5100 in the rear but I'm not a hardcore wheeler and I just want to stay around the 2" of lift to avoid other headaches associated with going higher, so complete OME makes the most sense for me and allows me to do new tires at the same time. That being said I'd rather remove one of the overload leaves on the Dakar's to bring the rear down than raise the front up to match the Dakar's so it's kinda looks like 881 with the 10mm spacer is my best bet. Hopefully there won't be any tweaking, but I get what your saying and realize there may need to be. Thank you for your input.

Nothing better than visual aids my friend! :D Thanks and nice rig!
