    Awesome, good to hear.

I'll probably PM you this weekend about the bumper kit, a fellow student in my welding class is going to come over and we are going to piece together my bumper.

I don't have any teeth to lose :D

It's not as dangerous as people make it out to be.

For the DIY bumper I might not be as much help.. I just did the rear DIY wrap around, not the front...

I was confused about which bumper you got.. sorry.

A write up for a DIY bumper? Isn't it just a big puzzle?

I thought so to, I think that's what Pelfreybilt tells it's customers to gap it at also.

Thanks, I'll have to remember that.

Does the full OME for gen1 eliminate axle wrap?

    Dakar rear pack with nitros.

    Thanks

I am planning to get the relentless front plate bumper and i am on 882's. How much do you think they will settle with that bumper because i want more rake. I was thinking about aal with my dakars but that would be too much without my camper shell on. Thinking about lift shackles. Do you think It will settle enough to get some better rake. Is adding the aal hard to do? Does anyone know of a write up on it?

Better, yes...but eliminate, no. Frame plate mod was the single best mod to date for axle wrap and wheel hop.

With 882 coils you will probably get some good rake. johnboyTRD can comment on that because he has 882 coils :D

I added the AAL and then took it off. Its pretty straight forward.

    - Take leaf pack off
    - Remove those bolt things that clamp the leafs sideways
    - Put C clamps on either side of the center pin
    - Remove center pin
    - Slowly remove C clamp
    - Put AAL in where it is longer then the bottom leaf but shorter then the top
    - To put it back together do in reverse order.

You're suggesting that frame flex is the cause of axle wrap? Not worn leaf springs torquing and then releasing?

    No I'm saying it contributes.
I still had axle wrap after the Dakar springs. It was after I did the frame plate mod that the axle wrap stopped. I can't say for sure if it was axle wrap i guess, but the bed would hop around and the canopy would smack the back of the cab before and after the Dakars. The frame plates stopped that.

The key word in this is 'eliminate'. Nothing will totally eliminate the torquing action of loaded leaf springs. Eliminating all flex will eliminate that but who wants that.

Excessive axle wrap in our trucks is a direct result of worn out leaf springs. Replacing the springs will minimize that feeling of being hit from behind when you release the brakes. At least until those springs wear out.

Are you lifted? Are you using blocks to attain that lift?

I see what you are saying. I agree, we do have a lot of frame flex and stiffening the frame by either boxing it or adding frame reinforcement plates definitely helps keeps the bed from smacking the cab.

I wouldn't call the bed moving around, axle wrap. Here is a graphic description of axle wrap:

    That wrap graphic is helpful.

No blocks, just OME coils and Dakar rear. Fully stock prerunner now - no lift.
