Sweet! What size tires and rims are those? Trying to figure out what size and rims to go with on my '90.

Got my AAL installed in the rear today. Was trying to get the shackle lift installed as well, but couldn't get the factory shackle pins out. Got the nuts off, hit them with some PB, and beat like hell on them with a bfh. Got one pin out of the four out.

Any ideas? Trying not to go to a shop.

Did you put the truck on jack stands? Frame wise I mean, then put a jack under the diff and jack accordingly to where there is no pressure on the bolts.
That's what I had to do and I just had to find the sweet spot and the bolts came right out. I had some help from a long metal punch also.:D

    Thanks,

    Brett

Hey wait. The stock shackles on my 85' were 2 pc, take the nuts off of that side and the bracket comes off. Then I just had to pull the 1 pc that had the bolts and half shackle out. Still though try the jack stand deal and jack under the diff.

    Thanks,

    Brett

Nice rig! Non SR5. What's the thing below the key hole on the door? Haven't seen that before? You EFI? I can't tell from the pic.

    Thanks,

    Brett

I had the jackstands under the frame and the jack under the diff. I thought of the positioning as well and tried a variety of positions. Even when I had the entire leafpack separated to install the AAL, the piece was just swaying in the breeze. Couldn't get it. Very frustrating.

That sucks! Guess lube the crap out of it and beat the poop out of it with a rubber mallet or a hammer with some sort of protection . I had a buddy helping me when I was doing this also , it helped for sure. They were a bitch to get off!

    Thanks.

Looks like one of those adhesive protectors that covered the area immediately around and below the lock to prevent other keys on the keyring from scratching the paint.

Used to sell a bunch of them when I worked auto parts in the 80s.

Ok nice . I have never seen that before and my 85' doesn't have that. I still can't see if it says just 4x4 or EFI under the TOYOTA emblem on the pillar? Crap.
Just cause its 85' doesn't mean it's fuel injection.

    Thanks,

    Brett

I rented a puller from the local o'reilly's. I don't remember what it was exactly, but it was huge. I just went there and asked to see a big puller and picked one of the biggest ones. I placed it with the teeth grabbing the bushing sleeve and the pushing pin thingy on the shackle pin and started crankin'. It came out in a few minutes, piece of cake. I was having a boatload of trouble with it, like you are, and this puller made it sooo much easier.

Well I bought the beater for parts mostly the box and the tires for$200 from a guy but the head gaskets were severely blown motor was fucked but it ran great for a hour infill it over heated. So we just rumped it as hard as we could bOuncing it off of trees jumping it massive burnouts everything to try and kill it but it wouldn't die and the picture of it on the trailer we where taking it to the junk yard and got pains $325 for it like that so I made money and had so much fun with it. That's the story lol

Can't wait till my new 33" tires get put on. I hope they fit on my 91 Toy. I will send some pics tomorrow if they fit. It's going to be tight.
