So with over 16000kms (10000 miles) on the truck now, my transmission conclusion is this. When I drive the highway up to the cabin, all is well. Even CC works great. Since the TSB upgrade I am happy. Around town I was not 100 % pleased with the shifting but then I came up with an idea and it seems to work well. In town or in the mountains driving to the cabin, I push the ECT button and everything seems to work out alright. Just curious if others are using the same idea with similiar results?

Yes, ECT button is always on for me. Throttle mapping and shift points are much better suited to my driving style.

Increase for me, for likely no other reason than less fiddling with the throttle to keep it in the proper gear. If I'd just let the truck be slow without the ECT button and let it upshift all the time, it might be a bit better, but my right foot isn't that patient.

I drive in S5 all the time unless I exceed 50mph (then I bump it up to S6). Makes a huge difference for me. Pre S mode, I was getting 17-17.5 mpg and now in S5 I get 19-20 mpg. I still haven't caved and gotten the TSB though because S5 works so well for me.

Do you need to know, or care?
I use ECT when I feel I need to, mostly hills, but for the most part I don't use it.
