I didnt get much help with the last thread so after some research Im looking at getting the OME 3" lift kit from Toytec. This one to be exact,

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Old-Man-Emu-Tacoma-suspension_p_225.html

Is there anything else needed with kit that is not included (like brake line extensions etc) or am I good with this and call it a day?

Also does anyone have this exact kit that can comment on how good it is. I have yet to see any bad reviews of OME, just looking for a assurement that this kit is awesome and that I'll wish i would have gotten it sooner lol

I put this lift on with the Dakar leaf packs about a month ago. I love the ride. You do not need longer brake lines. It just makes is a little bit easier when you add the leaf packs. I have the 885 coils for my double cab and also the diff drop. I put is on just to make sure of no vibrations and my truck rides better now than with the stock suspension. I talked to my 4x4 mechanic before purchasing and asked him what brand lift he would recommend and he said OME before I finished the sentence. Check out headstrong.com for purchasing also. I bought mine from them and could not be happier. Here is a pic of mine. [IMG]

Had my OME lift installed about 6 months ago. Love it. Have been on the trails a handful of times. Rides nice on and off road. Do it!

Seeing that all of your responses so far are from 2nd gen guys, I'll give you some feedback from a 1st gen point of view. ;)

A longer rear brakeline is still a good idea even if people tell you it's not "required". The rear brakeline will get pretty tight with 3" of lift and if you take your truck offroad you could stretch it past it's limit.

You might also need an exhaust relocation bracket for the tailpipe, or cut your tailpipe to dump just behind the axle. The rear leaf springs might contact your exhaust without either the bracket or cutting the tailpipe.

Do you have an aftermarket front bumper, a canopy, a winch, sliders? Depending on that stuff you might want to choose a different front coil. Also, you'll have better performance if you replace the rear leaf pack rather than just using the AAL in that kit.

I have the exact kit, different part# for my rear leaves though as it's an older model.
You will need the longer brake line if you plan on driving in the dirt. The stock one is too short.

Like Box Rocket said, it's better to get a full leaf pack if you can swing it. There is an option with that package, choose the right one for your year of truck.
My old leaves came apart in pieces, I had some cracked leaves that I did not know about, something to consider if thinking of add-a-leaf only.

I just chopped the tail pipe, that was a personal choice, the drop bracket seemed to hang too low for my tastes.

A diff drop kit might also be a good idea, lots of differing opinions on that one. I did it and would suggest it.
Overall the suspension kit is awesome.

Looks like that kit comes with a diff drop.

Thanks for the replies guys. My truck has been stock for the 4 years Ive been driving it. Most my money goes into my corolla drift cars. So Im mechanically fine, I just never wrench on trucks. It will be alot easier working on the suspension then my slammed 86's for sure lol.

I dont do anything car/truck related cheaply so a full leaf pack is no problem. I just wanna spend a good dime on quality and not have to mess with things ever again.

So would I just be better off with running OME coils and shocks in the front and a full leaf pack in the rear with shocks too? My taco has a full time camper shell and I do tow a 8' trailer filled when camping and I also have a 18' boat that gets towed too.

My whole reason of messing with the suspension is to help when towing or filling the bed up, preventing the sag which was really bad last year. So I wanna fix it for this summers camping/boating season. So basically I want a kit that looks great, is functional and will help with the towing and revive the feeling of driving it. It has just broke the 200k mark so Im sure the stock suspension could use a refresh.

Another option for the rear is a progressive 3-leaf add-a-leaf pack. This is added to the 3-leaf stock pack. The result looks like one 6-leaf pack where each leaf is progressively shorter than the previous. You can retain the overload if you plan on hauling heavy loads on a regular basis. I don't so I left it off. Works very well for me, on and offroad.

Let me know if the sags after two years ??? I know of a few that have. Including mine. I'm going to replace the front coils and struts again this spring. Not sure with what yet. But I do have a heavy front bumper with winch and lots and lots of hard miles over those 2.5 years.

OK, I've gone threw the 1st OME lift thread a ton of times and I'm still not sure what front spring to get. I will be getting the dakar rears with the d6xl AAl for sure. I plan on keeping my stock front bumper and I do have the V6 on my double cab. Which spring should I get? Not sure because I see so many people on that thead running both the 882 and 883's. Not sure which one better suits my needs. Once I know for sure what springs to get Im gonna order the kit.

There are many opinions back and forth between the 882's and 883's. I chose 882's and to me they were very rough until I added a front plate bumper, full skids, and sliders. Now, 9 months later, they are starting to actually ride decently smooth. When I'm loaded down with trail/camping gear the truck drives very nice. I can't imagine how rough the 883's would be without the added weight. I did go with a diff drop eventually because the cv angles were steep.

Although it may not be necessary, I changed my UCA's as well to help with the alignment. I went with LR which I heard good things about, but now I'm already having to repair a ball joint that failed.

I went with the 883's because of the weight I planned on having up front. When I first installed them all I had was an ARB bumper up front and it was pretty rough ride at first. Then I added a complete set of Skid Row skid plates and then a 10,000 warn winch. Once the winch was added it finally started settling down a bit. I am an access cab with all that weight, I think the 883's were perfect. Since you plan on keeping a stock bumper, I would not go with the 883's, they will be too stiff.

I've got 883s with no extra weight. Been running it since May and love it. Yes the front end can be a bit stiff on certain terrain, but it's still a hell of a lot better than the stock suspension that was on it. It rides like a dream on the on-road potholes and frost-heaves. Offroad it handles gravel roads great as well. Washboard type stuff the front tends to bounce around a little with no extra weight. But I have a plate bumper that should be here by the end of the month. That should fix that problem.

I also have the dakars and AAL. I wouldn't change coils or rear setup at all. I think you'll be happy with 882 OR 883s. I went with 883s so I wouldn't be so high in the front without the plate bumper. With the plate bumper they should really start to soften up and ride even better. That's my hope anyway, lol. I'll know in a few weeks.

Hi, so I recently bought my OME with 885 as well. I was talked into not getting the space to alleviate the 1" rake that will occur on install from the guy at Toytec. He says that after a while the level will settle into a bro lean. Did you use the 1 inch space? If so, do you feel it has stayed level, or has the back started drooping?
