Hello everyone! I could use advice on an OME lift.. :)

I have thoroughly read pages 1 - 33, and then skipped forward to 261-present of the OME lift thread... Man, what a great source for information.

Despite all the information I have read, I still have questions, so I figure I'd leave em' here:

First off, I have a stock 2002 Extra Cab SR5 4x4 w/ TRD package.. I want to lift my truck to increase clearance, add larger tires, and improve feel offroad. This is not my daily driver, but I still want it to be comfortable on pavement. My goal is to eventually add a RTT, drawer system, front/rear bumpers, skid plates, and a winch. However, this will most likely be done over the span of a couple years!

That leaves me in an interesting spot, as I want to lift my truck now and add weight later.

My current thoughts are to do Nitrochargers on all four corners with 882 springs in the front, and Dakars in the rear. I am picking the 882s over 883s/881s for now because I don't want too much rake with the Dakars; also, I figure the 882's will be more forgiving for the future weight I might add compared to 881s. I know 883s have a higher spring rate, but I believe the shorter spring would contribute to the rake.

Then, once I add more static weight in the rear, I will most likely purchase an AAL for the Dakars and keep the 882s in the front. I know Dakars tend to settle quite a bit, so I'm hoping to have a nearly level ride at the end of the day.. hopefully no bro stance.

    Thoughts?

Also.. I am thinkin' about buying from Cruiser Outfitters, but I'd gladly take other recs if ya have one.

+1 on Cruiser Outfitters. Kurt is a good guy and runs a perfectly sold business. You might want to run your questions past him, in fact. He’s probably BTDT. (He’s driving a 200-series LC now, or at least was last I saw him, but he’s an old Tacoma driver from way back.)

I have 882s with nitrochargers and Dakar with AAL on my extracab. I usually have a ~300lb platform plus a fiberglass topper on the rear. Even with an empty bed and before my ARB bumper, it sits pretty level and drives well albeit it a bit stiff. 882’s felt 10x better with some weight on the front.

first pic is fully loaded for camping with an arb bumper and warn winch in the front. Second two pics is right after the lift, empty bed.

Thank you both for your input. Paul, those pictures are super helpful for me- looks pretty awesome! I'll reach out to Kurt/Cruiser Outfitters to get some more questions answered.

You’ll have a lot of rake even with the 882s after the install for a little while but they’ll settle down eventually.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. Maybe I'll cruise around with some sandbags for a bit.

It's just the angle of the photo, but that picnic table cover looks like it's part of the "300lb platform" and I was thinking "how can that only weigh 300 lbs...?" ;)
