Okey people...lift was installed 3 weeks ago. Love it. We saw a rooftop tent while in the back country fishing, it was Tupei Ruggerized XL tent. We stopped and talked to them , crawled in it and now we are buying an over conapy rack and a 210 lbs roof top tent. So 50 lbs rack, 210 lbs tent, 10 gallons 2 cans of gas 85 lbs, 5 gallons of water 42 lbs, 50 lbs recovery gear, 40 lbs kayak we just bought and 150 lbs of other assorted stuff.
627 lbs in total...should have just bought the heavy leaf spring, new AAL going in next week. Live, learn, spend!!!

Looks good, am doing the same set up on mine. Did you added any spacers for the "lean" up front?

I did go with the lean spacer , it does not completely get rid of it when gas tank is full but it is way less noticeable. Worth the $20 100%. Please get the carrier bearing drop kit too. Good luck :)

The OME 1/4" lean correct spacer which translates into about 1/2" of lift

If I'm gunna be running roughly 150 pounds in my bed on a regular basis and occasionally up to 300 pounds to go camping/fishing will the mediums be good enough to start? If I gotta gain more lift/spring rate just add the extra leaf?

If you plan on getting a roof top tent or towing eventually get the heavy duty pack right off the bat. They hold more without bottoming out and squeak way less. The truck handles better fully loaded offroad and better at highway speeds going around corners. You always take more than you plan for, 2 cans of gas , water , recovery stuff, rack, tent, etc...here is mine with heavy duty springs and about 700 lbs over the bed including the canopy and rack.20181112_171926.jpg20181112_172036.jpg
It handles way better fully loaded but has a rake on it when empty and is stiff. If I had to do it all over again, heavy duty right off the bat. It would have saved me money and time but I'm a hard learner...I duck on the third punch...lol.

I went with the HDs and I'm debating popping the extra leaf out since I usually just have the weight of my cap on unless I'm going on a trip. I previously had the stock pack with Toytec AAL and had no driveline vibes but the additional height and oddly flat way that the dakars sit gave me take-off vibes which I've never been able to eliminate. Tried four different shims (2.0-3.5 degrees) and center support bearing shims. Maybe taking the extra leaf out will bring the rear down a tad to correct the issue - but before pulling it out to do so, was curious if anyone else has experimented with the height difference between the two configurations. I will say the HD are a sweet pack under weight, the few times I've hauled a cap full of firewood it hardly sagged the rear end.

The issue I had was it was to light duty because 6 months out of the year the RTT, rack, canopy, 2 spare tires, recovery gear are in it so about 480 lbs. It was super rolly and wiggly.

Hmm that's no good. Cap is what, 200ish lbs? And I'm adding a new rear bumper with tire carrier soon and the molle bedsides from caliraised in there so I'll have my hilift permanently mounted on the passenger side of the bed.

Sounds like the HD pack will be perfect after you load it up, until then a little stiff and a few vibes.

I've got the medium dakars that have been sitting in my garage for about a year, waiting until I can afford a set of Kings to match with it. I was going to have the rears shocks set for 200lbs load. But now I'm wondering if I should order an extra leaf to throw on dakars...? I think the Baja I have came with an AAL, but they have been shot since i bought the truck used. The only weight I have so far is highlift jack in the bed and some belly armor. The topper in my profile pic has since been taken off and doubt it will go back on. I may get one of those aluminum racks, though.

You should be okey with them and I do miss how flexible and soft the ride was. My truck currently has 500 lbs in/over the bed right now plus another 200 lbs when we go exploring. So if you are talking about 200 lbs you should be fine but if are you planning on a Roof top tent or towing then it is easier to throw the leaf in now.

So I've had the mediums on for the summer, and glad I went with them over the heavies! Rides so much better than the factory springs, and did great off road.

Perfect...I was bottoming out all the time had to upgrade. Miss the smoother ride the rest of the time.
