The stock Dungflop 245/75/16s until they wear out. Not sure what I will be replacing them with.
It looks like you need to do the CV boot slide.

Never heard of that, but i searched and found a thread on it. Did you have to do it? Seems pretty straight forward...

I feel like the front has settled a little bit int the past couple days, as expected. The measurements I posted were taken the same day as the install. I will re-measure in a the next day or two. If my CV angles are too steep, could that cause a vibration, maybe pointing to a bad wheel bearing?

I wanted to do a follow up post after a few months of running the lift. All in all I am very pleased. I love the way the truck handles and how much more solid it feels with the new suspension. I am also happy with the stance and look of my lifted tacoma

The primary purpose of this lift kit was to replace the crappy stock toyota suspension. Prior to the lift, my leaf springs were completely shot and frowning. If I went over dips in the road, or speed bumps, I would bottom out on the bump stops, even if my bed was empty.

I installed the lift myself. In doing so, I saved myself a lot of money, but I also learned a few things the hard way.

I'll start with the front differential. Immediately after installing the lift, I could feel a vibration in the front end that resonated thru the steering wheel and gas/brake pedals. After some diagnostics and reasearch on TW, I concluded my vibrations were caused by the slop/play in which the driver's side cv axle was able to move around/vibrate in where it passed thru the needle bearing of the front differential. The following thread describes the sypmtoms and the fix for this issue, which is often times brought to the surface by lifting these trucks.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...nt-differential-bearing-vibration-thread.html

I removed the front differential drop, since the general consensus is that it is pretty much worthless for the 2nd Gens, and it can actually end up damaging things by not allowing the differential oil to get to where it needs to be (so i've read).

I ended up ordering a bushing (to replace the needle bearing), puller tool (to remove needle bearing), and race driver kit (to install new bushing) thru East Coast Gear Supply. They were very helpful on the phone, and the parts/tools were at my door within 3 days after ordering. I simply referred to their videos on the website and the included instructions and was able to do this with a buddy in roughly 4 hours. After we put it all back together, the vibration was completely gone and the truck road smoothly (respectively). I still had a shudder and vibes coming from the rear :(

Next issue to tackle was the rear vibrations. When I installed the lift, I also installed the carrier bearing drop. I ordered axle shims, but I decided to hold off on installing them and see what kind of vibes I ended up with first. Sure enough, I had an almost unbearable shutter at takeoff, low speeds, and coming to a stop.

When I installed the dakars, I was an idiot and listened to my buddy, who said (in reference to the U-bolts), "Tighten those motherf#%kers down as tight as you can get em!" Well, unfortunately, I tightened them way too much and overtorqued the bolts, causing them to bend and warp, and also to rub against the plate, damaging the threads. This made me pretty nervous. So after a few weeks of riding around like that, I called up a local spring shop and had them make up some new U-bolts for me. I got the new U-bolts, and I decided while I was at it, I would install the axle shims.

The axle shims install was very straight forward. I had previously ordered a "center-bolt head lengthener", which is essentially a washer that pushes the head of the center pin down further, to accomodate for the increased space between the leaf pack and the axle, allowing the center pin to sit nicely into the spring perch. I got the correct torque specs for the U-bolts, and torqued everything down properly. Got it all back together, and my vibes were virtually gone!

So, today I am still essentially vibration free, and despite the headaches I went through, I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks TW for all the help and insight. Now I just need to get some new tires to fill up those wheel wells a little better :D

Looks good Dan. Glad you got the problems figured out & are happy with the ride. I know what you mean about the wheel well fillers, mine looks kind of silly in commuter mode with the 245 Dungflops on it.

Not sure about the lift of the Icon or Wheelers AAL or how they would handle the 500lbs. I know the Dakars could handle it & like it.

I want the truck to sit as flat and leveled as possible. Any imputewould be much appreciated.

Get it through Headstrong off-road. The pic attached is the quote they sent me including LR UCA's. I think it's the best price around "correct me if I'm wrong"
