Thanks for that input. Mine is a 2012, but seems like the leafs are worn and weak. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to all of this, but that forum has been extremely helpful. You just made my mind up on the HD dakars. I haul some firewood and generally have something loaded in the back every weekend. I'll deal with the rougher ride to be able to haul without worrying about hitting bump stops the whole time.

Longevity is what is driving my decision to give them a go as well. I don't off-road enough to warrant the 30-40,000 miles i get out of mudders. Skinny would be better for the winter here. I am running a 245 now, but going back to a 265. Do you have a pic of the 255's mounted on the truck. I'd be interested in seeing that.

I did splurge on my adjustable rear shocks. My thinking was if i ever buy a boat i can stiffen them up which might help any sag, or at least give me better control.

I'm making a trip this weekend and should have a few hundred pounds of gear/ice loading in the back. I'll try and take a photo once she's loaded up.

I went with the 886 because of arb bumper and winch rides stiffer but I like it better, for the rear I got the hd dakars and like them even with minimal weight in the bed. I would get the hd springs and if they are too stiff you can remove the 3rd leaf (I think its the 3rd) to soften them up.

They actually don't look all that skinny on there.

What is your lift in front and back. Any other mods to get them to fit

I did 887's with a top plate spacer. Aluminum bumper, skids, and winch with synthetic line + steel sliders. I have about 2.5" lift with this setup after 30K miles of beating on them.

887's are the tallest coils @ 590 lbs correct? What size top plate spacer, or just for the taco lean?

It was hard to tell exactly what lift I obtained from my suspension upgrade, because I had fully armored my truck 1st. So it had sunk the stock suspension.

With the front fender flares off, passenger side front it measures 23 inches from center of hub to fender.

They dont look skinny until you put the truck beside someone with 285's then you can noticed right away.

Full suspension upgrade + remove front fenders flares was all I had to to fit them lol.
I didnt want to cut up the fender flares, I dont like the way it looks. I just wanted em off.

Yes at the time 887s were the tallest available @ 590 lbs. I have both the 1/2" spacers and a "trim packer" for taco lean.

Now with the 3rd Generation Tacos out there is an 888 coil that is a bit taller.

If I were to do it again I would do 888's with no top plates.

    Coil specifications:
    • OME 883: 375mm in height, 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 884: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 885: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
    • OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 888: 405 mm in height 590 pound spring rate

Thanks for the info. Would the 888 be a true 3” lift then with no spacers? I have decided to wait until I can add UCAs before I do the lift. Wondering if you would have to do the differential drop with the 888.

Each truck is different 886,1/4" spacer, trim packer gave me close to 2 3/4" level on the front. Headstrong off-road helped me out a lot. Maybe start out with what you think and adjust from there.

Here's a good one for you. I ordered a set of 5100's and 887's from Low Range Off Road a week ago, 400.00 completely assembled and free shipping too, not a bad deal. I was told they were on back order for a couple weeks,no problem I'll wait. Today they show up, but instead of 887's I have some coil with a sticker on both that claim they are OME 899X coils...If they didn't have the OME tags, I never would have known and just installed them. Anybody ever heard of these ? Best I can find is they have a spring rate of 387 lbs. instead of the 590 on the 887's. They do seem to be the same height at 400mm.

How are the ST MAXX's in the snow. That is another reason I am strongly considering going with them. I live in PA, and we get a good mix of all weather. I get into mud while hunting, but more snow than mud.

I have dedicated winters since we have like 8 months of death winter here. So I do not know exactly how they perform in lots of snow or slush. We have only got 1 cm here and there since I put them on and that is not much to test tires in snow with. They dont grip on ice like my Nokian Hakkapeliittas R2's that for sure.

Put the coopers on early this year because I just got them and :bananadance:

Is your truck custom painted matte black or did you vinyl wrap it?

I had it vinyl wrapped matte black for bush protection, so I dont have to worry as much about pin stripes. I take my rig in the woods every single chance I can.

How does that hold up to wheeling and regular washing?
    Looks awesome
