This is the 3rd summer for it being on, it has held up great. Better than I expected. To wash it you have rub it, just washing with water will not clean it. You have to wash and rub it to clean it, so it is never clean cuz I DGAF.

I have no tears or rips in the vinyl, and only 2 noticeable pin stripes from being dumb. I pulled off to the side of a trail to move passed a guy that had parked his truck and trailer in the trail while looking at a camp site to see if he could fit. I decided I could just squeeze past him. There was a downed tree hidden in the green and went all the way from front to rear.

    Wife was all

There was a post on here with the OME springs specifications. On the list is an 888. I am under the impression that these are for the 3rd gen's. They are 5mm taller than the 887. Can these 888's be used on 2nd gen's? I am wondering if anyone has tried the 888's and what their measurements are after settling. I want the most lift possible while maintaining no more than 23-23.5 hub to fender. Also, have read debate between running OME vs Bilstein struts with OME springs. What are the advantages to either. I know one is mono and one is twin tubed, but that doesn't mean anything to me. Thanks!

While people do run OME coils on Bilstein shocks, they are not designed for each other. OME coils are designed to work with OME shocks. Just something to keep in mind. I ran OME shocks with my OME coils and never had issues or complaints. Everything worked as expected.

Any experts or someone who has been down the road of used suspension components that could chime in with pros and cons. Any measurements with the 885 nitrocharger combo with no extra weight up front?

I can't leave anything well enough alone
don't get the softer tuned shocks with a lift spring. you want more damping than stock to control the higher spring rate. If you are anywhere near the top of the travel range with a 'soft' shock, you will be getting top out clunk on every pot hole or divot in the road.

I would only consider the softer shock if you were not looking to lift and were using the stock TRD springs.

I have 885 with nitrocharger sport 90000, wish it had more damping, particularly rebound.

    If
You can run the 888 with no issues. For maximum lift run it with a 1/4" top plate spacer - it should be equivalent to an 887+1/2" spacer with slightly improved down-travel.

Ask this guy @Me. Projekt per this thread - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-bilstein-5100s-and-ome-888-second-notch.472872/

    thanks for the tag!

@Armyhater458 , I had OME 888 springs on my 3rd gen and I went Icon extended travel on my 2nd, I would reference your specific question to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road

I THINK the 888s would give your 2nd gen over 3" of lift (3.75-4" by my calculations) and toss your alignment way out of wack. Marie would be the person to ask... she's the one that guided me through my spring choice.

I got my springs new and my nitrochargers with about 200 miles on them (basically new) so I can't really chime in on the used aspect, but I will say the 885s on nitrochargers rock for me. Ride pretty well, and sit level. I have a V6, DCSB though, if you have a different cab config or engine, then you may want 884s. There was a post somewhere telling you exactly what springs for what truck.. I'll see if I can find it. My measurements will be below.

    Before:
    FD: 35"
    FP: 35.25"
    RD: 36.5"
    RP: 36"

    After:
    FD: 37.25"
    FP: 37.25"
    RD: 39.125"
    RP: 38.25"

This is from the ground to the fender, and it was a day after install so they may not have been completely settled. I'm not with my truck currently so I can't get you current measurements sadly. I also should've done measurements to and from the hub... not the ground... oh well

Edit: Also I put a 1/4" spacer on the driver side to help negate Taco lean. So far it's working well.

I'll have to search through the threads for that information. I have the same configuration for the truck though, so mine should be comparable. What did you use for the lift in the rear? I noticed that after the lift you went from .5" side to side difference in the rear to about 7/8". I don't know that it would matter, just wondering if you knew how that happened so i could avoid if possible. Or is that just because the gas tank was empty?

You could say alot of thing some of us put on our trucks are not "designed" to be compatible with other components, but they still work together. There is a thread dedicated to 5100s and 887 coils, not one issue has been logged with the combination.

I've ran 1 year with 887s and 5100s. Never had an issue or complaint and it has worked as expected.

Can I ask what made you decide on using the 5100's instead of the OME's? For me the ability to adjust the lift after settling if need be would be the biggest advantage. I guess I am more concerned with the overall ride quality. Is there a difference between the two, and what are they?

As I understand it the Bilsteins ride smoother, but the OMEs take big hits better and have stiffer valving.

In my experience with the OMEs they can ride a little harsh at low speeds, but they shine when bombing down rough forest roads.

Thanks for the response, although like most others it has left me more confused that before. I had made my mind up on OME. I want a soft ride at slow speeds, but also live in an area with many washboard dirt roads and don't drive 10 MPH on them. So I need bilstein for slow and OME for most DD situations. I wonder if there is a compromise with the newer soft ride nitrocharger shocks, or if they would be too soft. So many questions and can't afford to find out the answers to all.

I already had 5100s up front to level my truck on stock coils. Alot of members had success with them when running OME coils so i figured there was no sense in replacing them after only a year. I would say the 5100s spent 15k miles at the 1.75 setting with stock coils, and then probably 20k miles with them down at 0 and 887 coils.

You should not preload a coil.

5100s are meant to be adjustible on stock coils not on larger coils.

So when you go new OME coils you should not be attempting to get a larger lift with the 5100s.

You could use a small 1/4-1/2 inch spacer for a little extra lift. But then why spend all that cash for the real deal suspension lift when you are going to jack up the ride with adjustible struts and spacers??
    Just a thought.

I am not planning on preloading a coil. I was just wondering if that was what made his decision to go with 5100's instead of OME. I have to agree with your logic though. No sense in spending the dough just to add the cheap lift components to it.

I have also made the decision to go with 255's instead of the 265/75/16 route. With that being said i have a few questions since you are running the tires I want to achieve.

    1. What exact lift setup are you running? Both front and rear

    2. Any trimming needed to fit? I prefer not to trim at all. I got confused about the front flares (removed because of rubbing or aesthetic purposes)

    3. How long have you had them on? I am interested in tread life. I only got about 30000 from my MT, and I'm hoping to get at least 50-60000 out of these.

    4. Any other tire in this size you would consider going with instead of the MAxx?
