1.) Bilstein 5100's all around, set at the 0 setting on the front with OME 885 springs. OME EL095R Dakar pack in the rear.

2.) When I put them, at full turn it would rub when reversing on the bottom of the fender flair, rather than trimming them, I like how it looks with out them.

3.) I just got them in Jan, weather turned nice enough last weekend to put them on. So roughly 300KM total on them so far, brand new. Reason I got them was how highly recommended they come from a few other guys I chat with on here. 100,000 KM is what I can expect from them and more, which is 60k miles.

4.) I could not find any other tires that I could get input from guys running them on tacoma's, AND find youtube video content backing up what I was being told. These Maxx's come as highly rated as I could find.

Unfortunately, I'm running blocks in the rear right now and I'm sure that's why its un-even. I'm moving to dakars once it warms up here and I can get a good shop day in. At the time of the lift, my budget was just a few hundred short so the blocks were just a temporary band aid.

Was the free shipping US Postal Service or UPS?
USPS ALWAYS screws up deliveries to my address.

I used to love them, now I just like them. Performance and functionality they are perfect, but the ball joint assembly with attract surface rust pretty damn quick. If you buy some, make sure to keep yours coated in wax or grease.

There's a thread around here where the surface rust was discussed...

Ok thanks. I'm on the east coast, so I should probably stay away from them?

I still will recommend them. I didn't want a uni ball design because of it being open to the elements. JBA mentioned they are working in a better finish for the ball joints to avoid that surface rust. It's not THAT noticeable, but just something to keep in mind if your OCD.

I was a little to late to try anything. They mentioned wax or grease after mine starting to rust. Now, I also live about a baseball toss from a large body of salt water, and about a 20 minute drive from the mighty Atlantic where the truck spends alot of time. You can even see some sand hanging on on the BJ assembly in one of my pics above. I say all that because mine have definitely seen more then their fair share of salt and sand.

Thanks man. Days and days of searching and I'm still not 100% on which lift set -up to go with. Main problem is, I'm running a 4cyl. ac. so I don't want something that's going to beat me out of the truck.lol

Take your time and keep researching and asking questions. You'll figure out the ideal setup for your use and budget.

Nitrochargers or 5100's and why? I have been going back and forth on this one and I can't decide. My truck will be a daily driver with some mild hunting access offroading. With that being said, I want a soft ride over bumps. I also want a little more rigid suspension for handling purposes. My OR suspension seems to have a lot of roll in the turns with 75000 on it.

My limited education thoughts from other forums. 5100's have a little more than an inch of extra travel. That would translate to a better ride than the nitrochargers. I know that there are two main differences in the but the differences mean nothing to me.

Billy's- 1 piston with dynamic valving
Nitrochargers- twin piston with progressive valving (may have the valving mixed up) I have too much research floating around now.

Long story short. I need something that handles daily driving and slow speed off road. I will not be running baja with this set up. Any opinions on ride would be greatly appreciated

I love how my truck handles with the 5100's. No body roll at all anymore, totally different from stock suspension.

I have heard that the back side of a speed bump causing some bad jarring and the nitrochargers to top out and hit a weld designed to keep the shock from completely topping out. I just want to make sure i do this right the first time and get the ride i want.

Can you give a brief description of the ride quality in a couple environments.

    washboard dirt road
    rutted old roads
potholes (typical snow belt winter roads)

We have speed bumps here that I do not slow down for, only thing that it does it hit the bumpstops in the back end.

Tires and air pressure make a HUGE difference. if I am going down a dirt road that has washboard its because I am out for a rip, and I air down. So I can not really give you the information you are looking for. Everyone drives different and uses their rig different.

Potholes I do not hit, as I watch where I am driving and avoid them. My wife says I drive like its a mario kart track, but fuck it. I am not doing to demo my shit when I can just avoid it.

'You cant avoid all the potholes' Yes you can, try harder. I live in pothole central. We had 2 weeks straight that it did not go above -30C here this winter. Stayed mostly at -40C. So we get the potholes.

I can give my input on the Nitrochargers for this, but I've only ridden in an FJ with 5100s once. So my input may not be a good comparison.

    1) On dirt roads, the nitrochargers are awesome. Eat it up like it's smooth pavement. Still bumpy and still rides like a truck obviously, but better than stock slightly. Handling is awesome. I tried acting like the Duke boys on one road and it handled perfectly. Better than stock.

    2) Old rutted roads are a little different, still killer on the handling but the ride quality starts to suffer a bit. I think this is where people would start to look at the 5100 cause of comfort.

    3) Potholes are different aswell. I think the dampening on the nitrochargers rocks. After a big hit theres next to no body roll. You just take the hit, and keep rolling. From my understanding, the 5100s make those "big hits" less noticeable.

My understanding, is that in the end OME stuff is like a Toyota, reliable, tried and true. The 5100 is like a Jeep, rides nice, looks pretty, cheap, and will probably break halfway through it's lifespan.

Just what I've gathered when I was doing the same research you're doing now. Anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I have not heard one person say this about 5100's. They last for well over their expected life from everything I read on this forum.

Can you tell me where you got this information?

Sorry man I can't off the top of my head. Did my lift back in August, and did all my research for months before it.

I've just been under the impression that Bilsteins in general are the cheap option to lift a truck correctly. Without going Rough Country that is.

So everyone interpreters the data they gather differently I guess.

I got the impression that OME was just more expensive and was of no bonus over the billies.

OME is tougher. Hence why the Aussies use it.

Who says we gathered the same data? I just found friends who had the suspension, rode in their trucks at my local offroad park, asked what they thought, and went with that for the most part. I did tons of research on TW but everything on here is subjective. I promise you everyone is going to think the suspension they have on their truck is the best option. I'll be the first to admit I'm partial to OME but that's because I have almost 20,000 miles on my setup and I've never had a single issue with it.
