Bilstein 5100's with OME 881 springs in the front, trail gear add a leaf spring, K&N polumer cold air intake, and Walker exhuast with muffler delete with Denso sensors, (no check engine light) . Cooper all terrains stock size. 21.2 mpgs and I drive a little crazy lol.
Thinking of getting some OME rear Dakar springs on my 01 Taco, I recently put on OME 881 coil springs in the front with Bilsteins and it rides amazing, want advice based on what y'all have seen.

On my '96, I had to remove a leaf from each pack, as it had the shocks maxed out. Even with the leaf removed, it still rides pretty harsh. Empty bed, no cap.

Working on it, dissent offroad racks, shift sense pro, pedal commander , ARB twin, rigid SS dually's , dual batteries, ARB fridge , 2.5 Fox coil overs wResi , 2.5 Fox rears w resi Total chaos UCA , deaver packs , Nitto trail grappler's 33" .
Have them on my 04, have rear bumper and bedrack plus RTT a lot of times. Holiday axe shovel. I like the way it rides. It's firm but not harsh. I recently took it on a 1.5 week 2400 mile trip, not counting offroad . Still does a great job! And never got fatigued :).

What lift was achieved with 881 and 5100s? I want to swap out my Fabtechs... don’t think it could ride any worse.

If you have a cap or tow anything, the Dakars are great. This was my 01 with 881s and nitrochargers, and unmodified Dakars. The truck sat just about 3/4 inch high in the ear IIRC. I wanted some rake so it wan't ass-low when loaded or towing.
    Tires are "stock" size, 265/70/16.

Funny. I have the same on my '01, and prefer the slight rake for the same reason as well. I have 265/75/16s on mine.

Yeah, I don't understand those who relentlessly seek to level their trucks. They are meant to haul things and accommodate variable payloads.
I was going to bump up the tire size to 275 when the michelins worry out, but I sold the truck.

I had 5100s, 881s, and dakars on my 04 and they were great. Have dakars on my 07 now and they ride great but cant find a permanent way to stop the squeaking

Yeah man. I agree. Trucks should be used for its intended purpose, imo. Finction before looks. But to each their own.

I have thought of 255s, but they seem to be harder to find in 16in nowadays. Well...for a decent price.

    I love my OMEs

You will need longer shocks. I bought everything through toytec and have their in house Boss shocks. Some people will say you don't need an extended brake line, i didn't feel comfortable without one. They ride great but if you load up your bed, you'll want some longer bump stops, or trim the fender. With 285/75/16s, the bed loaded up for camping, and offroading, my tires rub my fender flares when fully tucked.

But long story short, i love the way they ride. Do it.

I forgot to measure it because I was kind of in a rush when I was installing them cause I did it at night but it's a noticeable difference

I'll probably trim the fenders and flare the bedsides out to make them fit better, I have done that on my other trucks, I definitely plan on doing it now with this much good feed back. This is my first Tacoma.

That squeaking is my biggest hesitation in buying Dakars. I need to upgrade my suspension soon. I've got 881 coils sitting here ready, think I'll buy the OME nitros too, but I hear so many people have squeaking problems with the leafs. If I drop 1k on a new suspension I don't want it to sound like an old bucket of rust. That's inexcusable IMO.

I have squeaking issues with my front bushings on my dakars. But it's not a show truck. It's used on and offroad. doesn't bother me a bit

Hey OP! Could you do me a favor and get me a measurement from your Front center hub to the bottom of the fender flare? Thanks

Maybe a pic of the cv angle?

I just undercoated my truck for the 1st time ever (getting ready for my first ever northern winter) and fluid film made the squeaking disappear almost 100%.

How's that work, exactly? I live in CO and make a lot of trips up to the mountains for skiing. I know the rust issues are bad and CDOT just started using Mag Chloride again on the roads. I read that the frames tend to rot from the inside out, so I'm wondering how people go about both cleaning and coating the inside of the frame.

Well, I mean that's great that it doesn't bother you. It does bother me.

I had a 36" hose with a 360 degree spray tip on the end, i push it down every hole in my frame and spray fluid film all the way till i pull it back out. I know it works great on boats for saltwater use. Figured id try it out on my truck. It can literally go on EVERYTHING because its non flamable so dont have to worry about over spray on anything and it is not harmful to any rubbers or plastics. It also lubricants
