    Hey Guys,

    My Rig:
2001 Tacoma TRD Access Cab MT 140k
Full Wheelers OME Lift, with Dakars and trim packers.
    Matte Black Procomp 7089s

So here's the deal, last week I had the fellas at "4x4 and more" in Scotts Valley, Ca, install my OME kit and new wheels + alignment. Since then, when the drivetrain is cold I'll get a vibration/ shutter when coasting down from 10mph to stop. This is with or without applying the breaks. Here's where the plot thickens —*once the drive train warms up, the vibes disappear, only to show back up the next morning.

    Thoughts?

No vibrations when accelerating? Any high speed vibes (60-65 mph)?

Hard to say what would cause low speed vibrations during cold operation only. I would start with checking the torque on every bolt the shop touched, and then start looking at driveline angles as a possible source, although generally driveline vibrations are consistent throughout operating temperatures.

If the rear carrier bearing has never been replaced, that is a likely candidate for amplifying the vibrations caused by driveline issues, although I wouldn't change it out until you identify and solve the root problem.

New wheels and new tires? Or just new wheels with your old tires?

If you have new tires, I would suspect those. Tires sitting overnight can have a flat spot on them until they warm up. Some are worse than others and it has gotten colder at night. :notsure:

When is the last time greased your u-joints? Old, "hard" grease could be causing the vibrations until it loosens up due to the heat.

I had the same issue. I had the shop re-torque the bolts after 2 weeks of driving, greased the fittings on the shaft, and installed a street taco drop. No vibrations anymore.:)

Carrier bearing is my first thought-2nd-grease ALL the driveline fittings-ESPECIALLY the hidden one near the carrier bearing--there is a fitting(inside) that is missed by most.

Not the carrier--the double CV (that is near the carrier)has a fitting between the obvious two-there are THREE fittings on the double CV

    Here an update,

    • Thanks so much for all your responses!
    • Post lift the truck is much louder at 60+ mph with a slight vibration.
•*CB is new OEM Toyota, thought there is no spacer so it sits on the frame causing a big drop to the rear end. I’ve order a street taco spacer, hopefully it gets here faster than the quoted 4wks!
    • New wheels, old tires (still pretty new) Dueler 2 AT 265/70’s they have a bit of uneven wear, but nothing to merit vibes.
    • U-joints were just grease via the TW article mentioned below :D
    • I’ve also ordered a new R150F from Marlin crawlers, since my has shot synchros and a whining bearings. Should be here next wk.
    • I've also noticed a decrease in MPG from ≈20, down to ≈17 —yikes! That seems wrong from a 3" lift with a stock tire size!

    Thanks again, happy Turkey Day!
