I've seen this done before but cant find where. I'm looking for ideas on mounting permanent a small on board air compressor that fits nice in the driver side bed storage box. Can someone help with where I can find this info? Also ideas on the best small air compressor to get would be great to hear some feedback. Thanks

I just installed the Expedition Essential dual compressor mount, and it's a very slick setup. It's a shame it's so nice, because
it's out of site behind the door cover when closed.

They do like nice, heavy duty gauge steel too.

If you bend/damage it, you've done more damage than just the compressor mount. It's very well made.

Does that mount alleviate the water and dust issue the stock cubbies have with their door hinge holes? And since the site says it replaces the existing cubby, what closes its open top?

I have been thinking about making a mount under the hood behind the battery.

Plenty of room there, and easy to hook it up to power.

Concerned about it shaking loose though.

    Anybody try something like this?

    Thanks

I'm thinking of putting an air bag compressor in there.

Is that for 3rd Gen ?

I never did a write up in this, but I guess I should.

I ran a four guage wire down the drivers side frame, in a loom of course. I mounted a fuse on the core support so short run from batter to that and the long one down through the frame. I needed a fish tape to get past the fuel tank. Then I mounted a distribution block on the inside of the frame around the spare tire area as I wanted to be able to expand on that power later. From the block I ran a eight guage wire to the compressor. I also ran some 12 by four wires back to the cab for the selenoI'd that come with the kit.
Had to do this twice as I did not loke the way the first one came out.
    Hope this helps.

By the way, I got the Mobtown locked bed doors to secure the compressor I also had to get a swiveling hose barb to mount to the compressor to hook the air line into. 20161227_123713.jpg 20170217_114252.jpg

Is the ARB hose plenty long enough to reach both front tires?

Was also wondering the same thing. When I thought of doing this, I was planning on using the existing plastic cubby, not replace it, and wondered how bad it would be for the air comp to get water and dirt up in there constantly.
