I stuffed my 2 gal tank in the bedside in front of the rear passenger tire.

I put mine behind the rear bumper, since the spare is on a swing out gate now. Should be real exciting if I ever get rear ended while under pressure!

This was the main reason I went to the trouble of putting it in front of the passenger wheel well. The other locations seem more exposed to rear and corner hits. Aside from that I wanted to counter the taco lean to some extent.

That tank won't hold enough pressure to worry about if it is punctured/ ruptured where it is mounted.

I can tell you from having a 3/8" hose rupture ( I had the tank under the Tundra and ripped a hose on a stick) at 160psi it makes a really loud pop and wooshing sound. Scary for the second or two as you figure out where the sound came from, but far from dangerous.

I really just wanted it away from minor collisions to the rear and rear corners and as far forward on the passenger side as possible. The compressor sits on top on a cludgy diy bracket that hangs everything from the bedwall with an access hole cut out to remove the compressor if need be. Everyone's going to have their own priorities which influence placement as well as constraints imposed by the equipment.

Have mine behind the rear passenger fender. Fits nicely and its a 2 1/2 tank. Keep it at 140ish psi.20180924_124808.jpg 20180924_124818.jpg 20180924_124808.jpg 20180924_124818.jpg

I made them. I used 2X2X1/8" aluminum. The straps are made from 3/4" strapping material I found at the metal supply yard. I used 1/2" round Stainless Steel rod and drilled holes for the bolts to go through to tighten up on the tanks, with some rubber strips to keep them from chaffing the tanks. The tanks are aluminum I got off eBay.

The compressor mount plate I made that too. misread the your comment. I thought you where asking for the tank mounts. I used cardboard as a template then bent some 14 gauge steel to match.

Did you have to modify anything on the truck to get it to fit there?

    Lotsa goodies
Ya'll are so sneaky with your hiding spots, I love it.

I'm considering putting one in my spare tire well and putting the spare on a cab roof rack.

I would put the tank on the roof before I'd put my spare up there b/c Sunlight degrades rubber, getting the spare down and the flat up there with a bed full of stuff sounds fun ( my luck I would never get a flat while empty), a tank is more aerodynamic than a tire and wouldn't have to come back down as often.
