Ok, I have been toiling over whether to keep the Bugflector II on or off. If I take it off I will be doing Clearmask to protect the hood.

I like it off personally. Do those things actually work?

OFF! I don't like bug gards. They eliminate bug splatter on your truck which makes it look cooler!

off for good reason...they do function but not as great as we hoped they would...

another thing I have scene a few other members that had the bug deflector on their XRs and 4x4s from the factory...after removing the deflector they saw that the deflector would move so much from the turbulence when driving at higher rates of speed that it damaged the hood by chipping paint...luckily when they took it to toyota, toyota was able to look it up and make sure the deflector was installed by them or the factory...if so they paid to fix the chipped paint...

    off
I'm thinking bug deflectors stopped working well in the 80s when they went from a flat slab to aerodynamic.

I think it complements all the other black on your truck.. but at the same time it looks cleaner off.

You mean those ones that you drilled straight into the hood with metal brackets.

Off. Kinda reminds me of a guy I saw in McDonalds today. He was truly functional. He had every kinda belt clip for 2 phones and a couple of other things - I wanted to take a picture but I thought that would be rude. :0

    +1

Yea, I had one on for a month or two when I first got it, got a couple of chips and it didn't seem to deflect bugs worth a damn. Took it off, now I have a lot less bugs and no new chips.

Usually I'm a big on promoting making your truck your own and doing whatever looks good to you...but one exception is bug deflectors. I think your truck looks way better without it!

I don't mind the deflectors (I have one) if they fit well and are contoured to the hood. Yours sits too high.
