Thanks everyone!! Keep the opinions coming!! THe main reason I was keeping it on is to protect the paint, especially during Winter here in Wisconsin. They use sand on the roads at times and it can be like getting sandblasted.

Where are you in South Central WI?

I keep hearing about logging trails for light off-roading... Do you happen to know where they are? I can't find anything online about them...

As for the original topic, I had one on my ranger, and still had bugs and chips... I think it looks a bit better off, but it is your truck - do what you like.

    Cheers,

For that matter, I'd definitely leave it on. It may not look the absolute best, but it will serve it's purpose and keep the truck looking it's best!

A lot better:D I want a color matched grille, but can't paint the chrome, at least that is what the body shop said. They said the durability of the paint on the chrome would be awful.

Well for now I am leaving it on. I like look of the truck better with it off, but the protection it offers the hood I think I'll leave it.....at least until next Spring. With Winter coming the front of my truck is going to take a beating as it is. Wanted to go the Clearmask route, but for me the jury is still out on that stuff.

What is this Clearmask of which you speak and where might one obtain it?

It's a paint protection film. You can use it in place of bugdeflector as well as just ro protect the paint in general.

I rattle canned mine with some OEM-colored paint back in May. It's held up pretty well. And I voted off. I don't care for the look of bug guards.

This is a case of once you go black, you will go back.

I don't like bugshields myself, but I had to put one on to protect the hood from stone chips, so I went with a clear one. You can hardly see it.
