I have a 2012 DCLB Prerunner with the factory 17" Sport Wheels. Last week, I had my set of tires rotated and noticed for all four wheels, one of the six lug nuts is smaller than the rest. This is the same for all four wheels. In fact it feels somewhat loose to the touch. The photos show that it is even visibly smaller. Is this normal? Is it for a type of wheel lock?

I've tried to do a little bit of research but couldn't find much. Any help would be appreciated!

That smaller lug nut looks like a tuner type lug nut or sometimes call a spline lug nut. Mostly used on aftermarket wheels. You can just replace them the OEM lug nuts or locking lugs.

Thanks. You're right. They have the same amount of thread bite so i'll just leave them alone. The loose part is because the aftermarket lug nuts come with a cap rather than a solid unit like the OEM ones..

Looks like the tireshop lost one or some and tried to cover it up.

I would replace them with the OEM ones with the captured washer like they are supposed to have

Did you have wheel locks on when you took your truck in for tire rotation?

OEM lugnuts have caps too. It's possible the cap fell off four of your lugnuts - known issue with repeated impact wrench usage.

No, I never had tire locks. But I purchased the truck used, so the first owner might've removed it...

    Same crap everyone else got
First owner probably had wheel locks and then removed them for some reason (lost/broke key, use for other wheels etc...) and then replaced them with what they had laying around. If it bothers you, they oem lugs are pretty easy to find. You can probably go to your local dealership and go to the service department and see if they just have any laying around.
