And this truck is well below expectations...

    1. Transmission is horrible. Don't tell me to use ECT, I have the most recent revision. The transmission sucks. I don't understand how it made it into production in its current state.

    2. Down 1 week for a coolant leak.

    3. Down another week for the massive fuel leak.

    4. The diff howls. (Haven't addressed it with the dealer yet).

    5. The constant farting kazoo sound from the drivers window on windy days.

    6. The cruise control destroys gas mileage.

    7. The radio rebooting at the strangest times.

    8. The singing A-arms.

    9. The condensation on inside of the windshield on rainy days due to a small leak.

I probably should have waited another year to buy the truck. That's on me.

Sorry to hear about all your problems. It's a shame that we had to wait 10 years for a 3rd gen truck and we get a 2.5 gen with some of the same problems that the 2nd gen had! Don't even get me started on the rear drum brakes on a 2017 model vehicle...really.

sorry to hear for your luck.

iv had my 16 sport for about 9 months.
its been to the dealer 4 times for the crappy transmission. dealer says the shifting is normal and its fine. they did the first revision but says canada hasnt got a new updated revision yet. but still claim my truck to be driving normal and they wont check the fluid level.

it has been in for the front bod mount bushings which i hear is common.

and recently it went in last week for the tapping noise in the dash but dealer also says they cant hear it.
at the same time it went in for the driver seat being broken. the back of the seat is loose and moved about a half an inch forward and backwards. its odd because im not a big guy at all.

I've had my 2016 since March. Needle bearing is out(maybe my fault from lifting it 2inches), driver's side window howls on windy days like a flying squealing balloon, cruise control/transmission still sucks (downshifts and slips a little on cold days).

Has anyone had anything done about the wind noise around the door/window?

I'm sure glad I insisted on a manual transmission....
So far I've had my truck 6 weeks with no issues in 4k miles, other than a buzzy vibration in the headliner, presumably the wiring for the dome light not being attached properly. I'm hoping to have the dealer address this at the first oil change in a couple of weeks.

I agree I'd be ticked with those things if I'd bought a $35k vehicle, truck or not.

But I didn't. Have much better things to do with my coinage. And my low class 5 lug does everything I need it to. And more.

    And I have a transmission dipstick. :p

    #dipsticksmatter #savethedipstick

So, I guess the question is, do you really even need a truck? Or would a nice trailer do?

If you are a primarily pavement person who wanted 4wd for snow or something, there are many good non-truck choice out there. And Ridgelines.

Sounded like options for people who don't really need a truck to not have to deal with the problems people are having with these was contributed...............I was entertained by the 3rd gen on 3rd gen bashing. 1st time I've seen that. I personally am not gen biased, it's Toyota so still best option despite some shortcomings that all gens have had.

I just can't believe there are so many people that are so unhappy. Sorry you got a bad one. I would be doing everything in my power to make Toyota make it right.

Anyone having the same issues as the OP, but on '17 models?

I have 1k miles on my '17 and I love it. The manual transmission is great. Very happy I went with that over the automatic. The only thing I have noticed in mine that the OP also has is the whistling sound coming from the drivers side door at speed. I do notice this when going 50+. It sound like it could be a seal of something. It doesn't really bother me though because it's pretty faint and I can't hear it if the radio is on.

I'm just going to wait until my 5K service and ask the dealer about it. Maybe there is a TSB or something? Speaking of TSB's. Is there a place I can lookup the TSB's for my specific truck?

Other than the whistle, I haven't had any of the issues others have reported. Could they have fixed all of these things in the '17 model?

Takes them longer than that to even acknowledge that there is a problem, much less do anything about it other than have dealers tell people it is just normal thing.

Ive had my driver seat cushion replaced already for a small lump or something sticking up and a small tear, my seat pivots back and forth at the base when I stop and go about half an inch at the top of the head rest.. Going in for a look at the same time I replace my passenger window seal. My service manager is VERY sympathetic and cooperative with my complaints.

See above, all I did was mention the noise and he said he's got a new seal on the way... ugh. Not confident it will fix it but we shall see..

The new seal will be the re-engineered version which apparently solves the issue.

Does that mean my drivers side was the new re-engineered seal and my passenger side wasn't? ;)
