So after one year and multiple online dating sites I got 1 date. One single stinking lousy date.

She wasnt exactly what she looked like from her profile pictures.

In her profile she said she was very active and LOVED biking and kayaking and blah blah blah.

In person she told me she hasnt ridden her bike in over a year but that she "really loooooves" it.

    Blah

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
She rode it once right before she filled out her profile.

I know a lot of people that have used it, some successful, some not. Pretty unanamously I heard you have to go in with an open mind and not just looking for the one. There are a lot of people that just use it for hookups (usually very successfully) so you have to do some weeding out. If I were you, I'd just view it as a way to meet a bunch of people (not necessarily looking for a girlfriend) and if you happen to meet someone cool, great, if not, well at least you still met some people and hopefully had fun along the way.

I met 3 girls on Match.com. The first 2 weren't what they said. The 3rd I am not married too after 2 years with her. I got sick of meeting the usual bar wenches that I used to. It can work, but like pugga said, you have to go in with an open mind.

I been on and off match.com for years, lots of pussy then I met my current girlfriend, been together for a year and a half and we joke about doing one of the commercials

It can work, my only advise is be honest in your profile, have lots of pics and be funny

but most of all have a good time, that is what being single is all about!

When I was dating in the 80's, there wasn't online dating, facebook, or any of the other stuff. It seems like a convinient way to meet people but the anonymity of the internet is the biggest challenge people face, IMO. It is too easy for people to misrepresent themselves on any number of points.

The closest thing to online dating I ever did was when I briefly experimented with a university dating site when I was in college. You filled out your bio and itnerests etc and were matched up with someone with the same interests, etc..The probvlem was, like you, it always turned out the person misrepresented themselves in one way or another. One girl listed her prime interest as long conversation over inner--she hardly spoke when we went to dinner and stared at her salad. Another said she liked sports and going to basball games, etc..When I invited her to a game, she said she would rather do something else.

The problem is that people are advertising themselves and your first introduction to them consists of what they think others want to hear so they can get attention drawn to their ad. People are basically competing with other ads for attention. The temptation to misrepresent is strong.

My advice is just be yourself. Eventually, you will come across someone and things will click. I wouldn't stop using things like online dating but I wouldn't use them as your only option. I know very few people who have had long-term success in finding someone.

Match.com, me my wife on there after about 15 dates with different people. Worked for us, but my profile was brutally honest unlike some of the women that showed up. Ugh.

Another thing I see today is people shoot too high in terms of expectations. They want someone who is their perfect ideal in all facets. I wouldn't short change yourself but be realistic. i.e. If you won't settle for anything but a super model who likes everything you do, you had better be prepared to either get really lucky or be alone for a very long time, if not for the rest of your life. I am not saying you shouldn't stick to your desires in some regards--just saying you need to keep a sense of realism when approaching this kind of stuff. Too many people today, both male and fremale, expect too much, just by stuff I hear. They have been watching too many reality TV dating shows or been looking at too much porn and their expectations are out of synch. This is the real world. It doesn't work like that. You have to be willing to settle for less than perfect.

Can you direct me towards the chicks who just wanna fuck ? I cant find one that will even return a message :(

btw - i had a profile on eharmony. my experiences were the girls were all over weight and it was like $200 bucks.

the girls on OK Cupid are much more atractive but none will give me the time of day

Honestly, I met my wife on ...duh duh DUUUHHHH!!!!! ...

    Hotornot.com

LOL, BF and GF for 6 years, Married for 2 as of the 22nd of this month :D

8 years together (and maybe an addition on the way...) thanks to a cheesy "rate my pic" kinda site. It is ALL luck of the draw with that stuff. I met girls off of all kinds of different sites, way before facebook and myspace (don't understand how people hook up on there anyway). Lots of one nite stands, lots of confused younger girls and burned out older ladies with kids and a divorce on their hands. I got lucky as SH** with my girl. College educated, good family, great friends, pretty as hell and just genuinely kind hearted and perfect for me.

It's all luck o the draw man.

eHarmony was great, and you don't pay to get started. You must answer about a ton of questions and you better be honest (and hope your partner is too) otherwise it won't work to match you with the ideal partner. I met my wife in 2004 with eHarmony... We are so compatible it is almost scary, lol! We met after several message and phone conversations, and she drove a Jeep CJ-5 (but now drives a Toyota) and loves camping, hunting, the beach, same politics and religious views, and we were even born the same month of the same year. Maybe I was just lucky, but she was my first eHarmony date, and we were married 4 years later and now after 8 years of being as happy as ever, I can say that eHarmony rocks!
