I tried OKCupid. Meh. Met some alright guys, hang out with a few of them but I'm not interested in them romanitcally. Basically I started thinking of it as a way to meet people and broaden my circle of friends, and I think that's more likely to work out for me than just dating guys I meet online.

Plenty of Fish... had one date with a guy off there who was about my age and he and I talk on Facebook still but we just didn't hit it off as more than casual friends.

Date.com... forget it. It had a bunch of 60ish y/o men who probably could have saved time and money hiring a maid and a call girl, that's really all they wanted.

It's frustrating. I think it's mostly about numbers. Just meet lots of people, eventually one of them will click. Also I've noticed there's sort of an ebb and flow to it. I'll have a few dates and I'll be feeling really confident in myself and I get more dates. And then it'll slack off, maybe I feel less confident and suddenly I get fewer dates and of course that knocks your confidence down a little more. Etc. Good luck out there.

I went on two dates from okcupid. First was not as attractive as her pictures and didn't live up to her profile. Still had some fun.
The second, and the one I'm now married to is a cute 5'4" 108lb doctor who likes the outdoors, thinks diamonds are stupid, and drives a stick shift lifted xterra with an ARB.
I'm very happy with how things turned out. It's not like I'm that good looking of a guy or anything, just average, but I keep in shape and don't do the stupid emotional things many guys do.
    Good luck to you.

I used it. took me 2 fucking years and many shitty dates but I finally found a girl and am about to marry her. It works OP. just gotta be patient. I remember being the same way and was pissed with it. I never get out that much so online was really the only way for me to meet a girl. Just be patient man!

I should also mention what sites I used.
plenty of fish, had a few dates from there
okcupid, where I met my girlfriend
Match, didn't work for me and was too expensive
    eharmoney, same as Match

I use to think the same about that stuff, but then I dated 3 chicks consecutively who all happened to have birthdays in July - aka: CANCER. All of them were worthless bitches and now I won't date a cancer. Yah, I stood corrected.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Ive tried craigslist, zoosk and numerous others, they all seem to be fake, you message one and never get a reply, sick of wasting money on those sites. But I ended up finding a gf in this tiny little town, so hopefully things go good and I wont ever have to attempt online dating again!

Be brutally honest about who you are and who you want. You don't get as many emails that way, and not too many dates, but the people you actually meet tend to be quality that way. Worked for me. I've found the last two lady friends that way. Having a lot of fun.

Do you guys just want 'dates' or do you want to find a partner you can be happy with because you both are compatable? Has anyone else seriously used eHarmony instead of all the other 'date' sites mentioned in this thread?

Just a bunch of old crap
I met my current gf/fiance on Match 4 years ago. Met her within a week and she's not your typical find. Educated, beautiful, motivated, family values, loyal, old fashioned, etc. I got lucky. I work alot and travel all the time for work, so I just didn't have the time or the desire for bar chicks anymore.

The key is to be honest and take your time with the questionairres. Do them right and the matches will be much more appropriate.

I think the idea behind online dating sites was done with best intentions. After all when dot com boom was blooming it seemed like our entire lives would revolve around internet. Unfortunately internet also allowed for a curtain of anonymity. Anyone could have created an alter ego and become virtually anything. You could say anything about yourself and promise anything to anyone.

Women do not like to look old or disadvantaged so they will almost always post a "better" picture of themselves. It is not uncommon for them to embrace "me too" personality. Me too's are creatures of habit. They tend to want to be engaged in what their date is into but very quickly they find reasons to be excluded from those affairs.

I know a few couples that met on date sites. To me it worked out for them but it was almost... I sensed a certain wiff of inevitability... a particular aroma of .... well... I tried and this is the best I could find anywhere...

... ^^^ ... I did Match for a while and so did some of my friends ... be open minded ... be brutally honest ... and remember that you will probably have to meet a lot of people to find your mate.

The more you date ... the more you learn ... good luck.

PS ... A great way to meet people is doing volunteer and/or charity work ... met a lot of good looking, professional and kind women that way. ... :D
