only runs with OBD ll hooked up

    97 Tacoma 2.4 ltr extra cab
    I just changed my head. I truck starts and runs great but only when the OBD ll scanner is hooked up. When I run it for a few minutes it has no error codes. When it's not hooked up it comes up with a p1300 code. I checked the connection on the distributer and ignitor. What do I do now?
