My truck is in a terminal condition, Frame rust not under toyota replacement.. I am torn on how to proceed.. My own needs demanded slightly more power, so I very recently stole a 2005 tundra.. Already stole the 2din head unit, and intend on moving the arb over as well.. Have a bakers dozen parts for the taco ready to go in, but not sure how easy it'd be to get rid of a bad frame ttaco... anyone feel free to advise.

    the taco has 410xxxkm..

hard to say. You'll take a loss on the parts but fixing and putting them into that high mileage of a taco with a bad frame is a bit of a tough call.

Depending on how bad the frame is, could it be repaired? Would it be worth the repair especially if your needs require something with a bit more power. Tough call.

At least you got some good miles out of that frame. I spend too much time underneath my taco trying to extend the life of the frame.

I guarantee you will enjoy that 2005 tundra. I miss mine some days.

Started it here. We still have a lot to organize but it is a bit of a ways away. @norlisk could you advise if rav4's could go that route. I haven't personally been up there so don't want to lead you in the wrong direction.

It was interesting note that Lexus plug was shorter by thread depth when I changed mine out, magnet will just ride a little lower. Looks like you got the correct factory washer as well!

yeah.. I'd love to repair the frame and drive it forever, but the new tundra is going to take it's place as my daily.. Could repair the frame and sell it as a bush truck/ice road truck.. likely have to sell the whole thing as a parts truck, not really going to recoup any costs of fixing it up.. the engine is still strong, it's a 2007 with 90000km less that the body..
    my poor baby..

anyway, this truck in the CT parking lot is from Sault st.Marie, and the poor bastard is waiting on parts, so if anyone knows who it is, I have a donor truck and some new parts to offer to his cause...

That looks good and I just did mine a while back. Since then I’ve read some guys use Teflon thread tape on the union to the differential, I didn’t do that but I might pop it out and redo it because I am anal.

Did you use teflon tape on your threads?

You might wanna zip in a cable clip with a self tapper on that inner body panel near your clamp to minimize potential rattle noise on rougher roads?

I didn't use tape and it held quite well... No foggy oil

Has anyone here order stuff from partsengine.ca? Looking for a review

That's a good idea, I wasn't sure what alternatives I could use besides zip ties. Thanks!

No Teflon tape either, the stock one I pulled out looked like it was bare threads so I didn't think anything was needed.

Turn the front LCA cams all the way in. This will shift the shock inward enough to clear. You'll have to adjust toe then camber after.

Rust Bullet to the rescue on on the stock steelie spare. First coat and after the second coat there is no topcoat required so I might just leave it like this instead of using black. After all it’s a 20 year old spare and the tire looks like brand new however I should give it a test spin.
