    No worries.

I have a spare set of lowers if you need more time to do this. Can replace them on my spares instead of having the truck down for so long. I’m sure you have some heavy duty presses at work though. I struggled with my ten ton to press out the rusted bushings on the spare set I had.

my current spares had the bushings done a while ago so shouldn’t be rusted in too bad.

Does anyone know if a 2nd Gen topper can be put on a 3rd gen? I'm lookin for a cheap topper (any condition) to start a build.

I recall 3rd gen tailgate height and gap is different, it may bolt on but it will not sit flush.

on a side note, anyone had used heim join dust boots on Icon billet UCAs?

I will assume other toppers follow the same specs but I know the 2nd gen softopper fits length and width but is taller because the bed sides are shorter.

Gotcha. Bonus height! Lol. It seems impossible to find a used topper regardless.

I used to run a 2nd gen Toyota accessory trifold tonneau converted to fit my 3rd gen.
    • The 2nd gen headboard and tailgate are ~3/4" lower than the bedside caps. If the topper accounts for this using large bulb seals, then you can simply replace the seal with thinner weatherstripping from Amazon. If the topper accounts for this using extra fiberglass in front or longer hatch glass, then it won't be practical to convert. You can remove the square tube on the headboard to get the profile closer to the 2nd gens, but there isn't much you can do at the tailgate.
    • Because the 3rd gen bedsides are higher, the utility rails are farther from the bedside caps, which means you may need new clamps if the existing clamps don't have enough jaw capacity.
    • If the topper roof was designed to be flush with the 2nd gen roof, it will be higher than the 3rd gen roof as Saturnine indicated.
