Opinion of the Bilstein 5100's

you can use the stock one if its in good shape.......i see no problem in doing so.

if the top is still loose........good.....kinda needs to be a little loose. the bottom bolt will slide thru, but you gotta have some play in there. and yes............they can be a bitch man!!

 

I'm taking my Tacoma in Monday morning to get the frame switch out. I bought my 5100's from Sonny & the dealer has no problem with putting them on for me.
If I'm running 16" tires do I want to put the front setting on 1.75 & the rear.85 to even the truck out?

 

Your rear shocks are not adjustable... And tire size has nothing to do with level. Lift on the other hand has something to do with size of tire you will be allowed to fit...

Ohh, and what in the world is 16" tires

 

Just ordered a set of rear 5100's. I tried the toytech shock extenders but they didn't look too sturdy to me when I put them on. I plan on putting bilsteins up front sometime soon.

 

What the hell is the frame switch out?

I obviously know about the buyback but are they replacing the frame on some too?



Also, is it worth it to put 5100's on the rear? I know this has been asked a hundred times but I just need to justify the extra cost. I have an 09 TRD sport and am getting a leaf added from the TSB. I am definitely putting 5100's on the front - set to 1.75. Just don't know about the rear.

I would like to be off-road capable but do not plan on any serious wheeling. This is also a daily driver and may make a few 8+ hour road trips with the family - so I need a comfortable road ride too.

I want capable but comfortable for under $400.

I read somewhere that the rears give up to 1"
The link shows this to be true??? or am I reading it wrong?

 

Dont misread the chart:

The fronts have 4 settings from stock - 2.5" lift

Rear is just stating that they compensate for up to so many inches of lift. Believe the 5100 rears work with up to 2" lift...

Need your help and advise!

I just got imported to Europe -Tacoma '06 PreRunner SR5 2WD Double Cab. Unfortunatly here in Europe we do not have Tacomas on the market that is why I can't get advice here.
I am not sure what suspension is on my truck now ? The sticker on the side of the bed says TRD Off Road ? I am not sure cause shocks are not bilstein blue/yelow but shocks are black and I do not have alloy wheels, 115V/400-watt deck mounted power outlet, multi-function overhead console with compass and temperature gauge, engine skid plate? I am suspecting that it is stock regular suspension and somebody puted sticker on to show-off.
Now my rear Left rear shock leaked out so it got to be replaced. I want to replace all 4 shocks on to 5100 bilstein. I want to have comfortable ride, cause my previouse ride was Chrylser 300C. I want to have smooth and comfortable ride. I am not doing any crazy off-roading .I am using my truck on street in the city mostly and and wods(hunting), gravel roads for transporting my four wheeler(Suzuki LTZ400). I am not using truck to carry really havy loads on daily basic. What would you suggest ?

 

Hey i just got the 5100´s all around for my 2000 tacoma set the front at the higuest ring but it feels hard...i wanted to level out the truck and it looks good cuz its higher in the front do any of you know how the different ring measurements on the front 5100´s work? when i got them they were set to the middle height ...dont know if this is the right heigh to level it out and i screwed up going one higher or what? any comment is greatly appreciated.

 

do you mind giving me your lift setup... Im new to lifts but i was planning on getting 5100's for the front and setting them to 2.5. It seems like you have the setup im looking for i want a lift that rides good but doesnt cost much

 

I just got a 2.5 inch spacer lift for the front and 1 inch add-a-leaf in the back. Its still not leveled out so i was gonna get the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks to level it out. Would this work or would it just be really bad for my truck?

 

the billy 5100's would be alot better than a spacer man.

 

i know but i already have the spacer and i dont want to take it off. i was wondering if you could have both at the same time

 

If you leave the Billies at stock... But the ride will be shitty compared to Billies set at highest level. IMO...

 

damnit. the front of my truck isnt tall enough so i was just trying to see if i could level it out with the bilsteins. do you know anyway i could make it higher without getting rid of the spacer i already have on now.

 

Hey you guys thanks for all the info. I just traded in my 2007 SR5 4X4 in for a 2011 TRD Sport 4X4 then yesterday I put on the BFG 285-70-17, yes the mud flaps had to come off & its still rubs. So I will see who has the best deal 5100
