I'm looking to buy a Tacoma 4door as a work truck to drive back and forth. I've found 2 that I'm considering #1 2010 double cab 2wd 4.0L for $10,500 but it has 300k miles. Nada says its worth 17k with that high of miles. Guy has complete car fax history and everything looks great. No accidents or major mechanical issues. #2 a 2004 double cab 2.7L with 104000 miles 2wd double cab. For $9k. Nada values it at $12,500... My main concern is of course I like the newer truck more but are all the miles something I should be skeptical of? What's everyone's take on it. Thanks for you're help!

I would go with the 04 as long as the frame is good. Tacoma's are reliable, but 300k you're gonna be needing to sink some money into repairs/maintainence for sure despite the history the owner gave you. 100k on an 04 is nothing, just making sure the timing belt has been changed as well, should be done 90k or so.

Just found out the 04 is actually an 02. Which Nada says is worth $10,500 not looking like much of a deal now to me.

Offer him 8500 and go from there. Used Tacomas are a hard buy, patience and persistence, good luck.
