So I want to protect my investment as much as possible, and I was told to get aftermarket rock sliders (instead of the OEM running boards) with kickouts to protect my new investment from door dings, etc (as well if I go off road). I've been looking at a couple brands, but seems to be the word on the street that 2018 sliders that are true bolt on are few and far between.

MobTownOffRoad has a set of bolt ons, but there aren't many pictures showing that they protrude out far enough to protect the cab. I would also like to utilize my sliders as running board / step ups into the cab.

So my questions are these.... Are there other sliders out there that are bolt on? If not and the mobtown's are my only option, do I need the kickouts to protect my cab? What is hoop flat?

I would really like to see more pictures of these with the options laid out so I can know what I'm looking at and if I want to go that route.

    THANKS!

I have Allpro Apex sliders on my 2017 DCSB. They are bolt on. Really happy with them. I bought them while Allpro was still in Montana and had no trouble with their service. Allpro is now pretty much a dirty word on this site. They are now combined with Trail-Gear so hopefully things will improve.

Check my build thread. The Mobtown slider pictures are near the bottom. The sliders protrude out to the wheel flairs. The kick out protrudes a little farther.

Sliders are set at about a 20 degree up angle, so they "slide" off rocks and stuff (better). Flat means they are set at 0 degrees; some people give up, the up angle, for a better running board performance. However, I guess then you should also get the fill plates.

So if I want "running boards" and protection, should I get flat hoops and kickouts?

I ordered them 2 weeks ago, and the lead out build time is 10 weeks. Then I added his recovery bar too..... Yay!

They need to go a little easy on the filtering. It's hard to see what they are selling in the pic lol

Be careful of AllPro, or any other vendor that does the gussets wrong:

    MobTown does it right.

I'm sad to see this because I love the look of the apex sliders! I suppose I could fab my own gusset plates. Now I'm in the air again :help:

If you are not going off-road, you do not need a recovery bar. FYI, you will get a serviceable for every day use recovery hook with the OR. Look under the passenger side front when you get your truck (on the frame). Do not tow on the provided driver side loop, its just for tie down. You will know them when you see them.

Anyone know of a group buy for the "decked out" sliders from mobtown? I'd love to save a few bucks.

We agree with you on here but it is just as hard to take pictures of the product with no filters. Black product, black plastic all over the truck and we do very little in house installs on these to give us an opportunity to really take good photos. That is to be said across all products unfortunately. More often than not we rely on the customer to send pictures to us. Not knocking the person but this is no easy task, especially when it is usually taken with a cell phone. There is a reason why good photographers charge what they do. There is a ton of talent in taking a good photo that shows all the important detail. Anyone can buy a good camera, only a pro knows how to use that camera to its full potential.
