Ordered New TRD Off Road

Just ordered an Army Green 2021 TRD Off Road 4x4 Automatic short bed.
Ordered with:
Tech package
LED head lights and fogs
Bed lighting
Remote tailgate lock
Floor mats
Mudguards

Salesman said 4 to 5 months.
Is that about what everyone else is experiencing?


Edit: Salesman now says late June to early July.

 

OK. Wouldn't that be a 2022?
That's what I'm figuring now that I waited for stock to climb as working from home I don't really need the truck...

 

I asked the salesman that and he said it would be a 21.
He said that the 22s don't start production until later?

 

BTW there’s another thread on this, you might find more answers there. What color? I was told 2-3 months, but found a dealer with an allocation coming that was close to what I wanted so I’ll be 6-7 weeks from when I placed the deposit and “order”. Unless they’re really pinching inventory or demand has gone way up since I ordered at the end of March, 4-5 months sounds crazy. Your best bet for sure is to call around to different dealers and see what allocations they have coming and see if anything is close to what you’re looking for.

Yeah Army green seems to be very popular this year, that's what I got too. But it's out there, definitely not as rare as a manual or long bed.

 

I think the previous year will overlap into the next year. Production for 22 will most likely start around August and the 2021 will probably stop some time in August or September

 

Toyota, doesn't factory order new Tacomas in the traditional sense where the dealer submits an order to the factory for a new Tacoma to be built to your specification.

He more takes your order for what you want and then tries to find one that's in the pipeline (already built or scheduled to be built) that matches your specifications. That's why they typically can't give you more than a broad estimate as to when you will get it. And also why some who "order" new Tacomas never get them.

Some Toyota dealers seem to take "ordering" your new Tacoma more serious than others.

 

Mine took 2 months from the date of order to the date of delivery. Army Green, manual transmission, Access Cab long bed. The 4-5 month estimate seems excessive.
