Ordered OVTune - Newbie Questions

Hello -

Just ordered (literally 10 minutes ago) the OVTune and I am already anticipating its arrival. I am sure there are many out there that have gone through this process, wondering if you could answer my basic questions. (I have searched the forum, but I could not find a recent or updated response, so I apologize if this is already out there and I just did not find it.)

1) It appears that the kit includes:

• • OVTune Flash ECM Software
  • OVTune Calibration for latest release (1.04)
  • Single Vehicle License
  • OVTune Flash kit Pouch
  • OVTune Rev3 Flash Cable
  • Datalogging software for live data and recording
  • Custom ECU and TCU tuning (for modifications, shift control changes etc)
• Will I use the "dongle-less setup"?
  • If yes, do I follow the instructions per OVTuned website? If yes, I am confused why the latest calibration is included if I still need to send in my "output info" information back to OVtuned?
    • I'm not questioning, simply trying to understand. Maybe if someone has done this recently they can describe the process they used?

2) My goal is to start with the TSB updates, using the hardware from OVTune to connect.

• • Is there a step by step process anywhere for the TSB updates? Software used? Steps to follow? etc.?

The tune file doesn't come with the kit; you'll have to download it once you have your kit registered. You can get started on the preliminary stuff (drivers, etc.) prior to receiving your kit.

As for doing the TSB, @MOC221_ can probably point you in the right direction. I can't find the link right now.

Haha - I have read through a lot of it, but difficult with all of the clutter, so I thought I could play the newbie card (which I am) and hopefully some nice people help me out!

Downloaded P5 Flash file and my PC marked it as being malware. Did anyone have that same experience and then no issues on install?

If u never have done a tune before .I would recommend to take it to a shop to have them install it then test it .dyno run and such . make sure the tune is working properly .I made a mistake a while ago on a tune on a mustang and it kept stalling . keep in mind your changing the way the vehicle runs from what the manufacture that was designed to keep the engine safe . Once u install this your warranty is void . not trying to scare u off from it just know what you are getting yourself into .

I have never completed a tune on a toyota before, but look forward to learning. I have worked with software before and am very familiar with what a "tune" does for engine operation.

 

Sorry, I forgot to tell you to turn off all of your antivirus for this (Norton, Defender, whatever you have).

 

Hey, how I can "identify" to my taco?? I turn off the Antivirus and still nothing

 

If all those buttons are greyed out, the registration is not working.

 

Then, How can I install it?

 

Looks like you are on the old program/install with the system ID. Do you have your Master key? IF so under the new program that is all you need.

 

Ok, I installed the new uptade, everything is good, when I start to flash it and Taco interrupted because of the Collision System, What am I going to do to complete it?
