If you aren't going to take it off the pavement, the LC hurts at the pump from what I've heard - 15/16 MPG, maybe up to 18. My buddy had the super long Escalade ESV, reached into the 20s, and we could fit a full size couch inside the back. Granted, an LC is still going to be around by the time the Escalade turns to rust.

    I can't really suggest a vehicle.

That's about the same as the other three vehicles on his list. The difference between 15mpg and 20mpg is about $500 a year in fuel costs if you drive 10,000 miles a year. That is an almost comical figure compared to the $40K+ that a new 4runner costs. My FJ80 was around $5K, so I figure I can drive it for roughly 27 years and still be ahead cost per mile compared to a new vehicle. Besides, it's not about the money. It's about smiles per mile and getting out there with the fam doing whatever it is you do. Get something that makes you happy, in the end you won't remember the payments, you'll remember the adventures.

I would love to find an 80. But, I need a true DD first.

You can't DD the taco? I think I'm finally getting my vehicles figured out. I ride my motorcycle to work all summer, the 80 in the winter and on short camping, fishing, and prospecting trips, the duramax gets used anytime I tow the four wheeler trailer or travel trailer or on longer highway trips, and the taco mostly gets used in the gnarly stuff offroad and during hunting season.

Thanks for the advice guys and your inputs. Were discussing the options. I'll look into an 80 if I can find one with low miles

New wheels and spacers for my car came in today. UPS guy was even kind enough to take them down my driveway to the garage.

Little Catchess, if you head towards the Campground, but turn left to head up the mountain, and just keep driving up it, you find this barely used trail with this amazing view

What is everyone thinking of the 2016 Tacomas?
I really like the look and the more updated interior, but I read that the off-road only has a limited slip and no longer an e-locker, which was a little sad.
(also probably a little late bringing it up haha)

They have the e locker. I dislike the look and interior. I'm skeptic of the engine but whatever. Mostly I don't think it's a very big change. Same frame, same suspension, and same disc brakes.

A big meh. It's the same truck as my 10 year old pile with some fancy bodywork bolted on and a more complicated engine and electronics package. I'm very disappointed on many levels and don't think I will be purchasing one. It's sad to say, but if anything I would find a clean 2004. I think that was the pinnacle of the Tacoma in the US. I drive a 2015 chevy 1500 as a work truck...gets an honest 20mpg even with my lead foot. Shoot, my wife's 450hp Duramax gets better mileage than the new Tacoma's. Something is wrong with that, it weighs almost twice as much. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2015/01/5-things-overlooked-on-the-2016-toyota-tacoma.html

The interior? Not worth the extra coin to have seats that your legs stick to.

It just looks goofy to me.

Yea, it's more of being on par with the Colorado in most respects. The hype of the diesel and big powertrain changes were for not. My dream would be to build up a Chinook or a trekker anyways lol Be more fun then paying out the ass for a brand spanking new Tacoma which is basically my truck with more makeup

Since I'm already in there resealing my timing cover, would you guys replace the water pump too? Do they commonly go out? I have 166k miles...

They don't commonly go out. There is a dude on here with over 300K miles on the stock one. I would change it anyway, and flush the radiator, put on a new belt, and change the idler pulleys but I'm weird like that. I often drive my truck in places that I can't walk out of, solo, with zero comms, so I err on the side of caution with critical maintenance items. If the water pump or belt fails...you are walkin'. The bonus is you can use the old stuff as spares.
