Ah ok, never mind, just looked it up. The "Discover Pass" is for Washington state recreation land, not specifically ORV areas.

Right, it was a budget-saving idea we came up with to avoid closing a shit-load of parks up here, or charging $10+ for day-use parking. At first I was pissed about the idea, but it directly affected Tahuya in a good way....due to the proceeds, they were able to re-open the Spillman & Kamenga campgrounds that had been previously closed due to budget cuts.

Another plus is you can use the pass on 2 vehicles now, as opposed to the single vehicle policy when they first introduced it.

RE: ORV passes, I learned some interesting stuff HERE about our state's policy.

i am really thinking of going for the tahuya trip. would a stock truck be able to do much there? i would feel really bad if i am getting stuck all over the place. on a positive note, i will have my new unstuck getter. i ordered a 6 ton chain style come along. much cheaper than a real winch for my truck, but it will do for now. maybe next year i'll get the new front end with a winch.

Your profile doesn't say what you have traction wise.
2WD is going to have problems.
Prerunner could be difficult on hill climbs to say the least, but otherwise fine with locker and some good tires, good experience.
    4x4 is fine

There's tough stuff if you want to try it, but not mandatory. This is very beginner friendly

trucks come without 4x4??? must be an Xrunner then, and i wouldn't take an Xrunner off roading. I have 4x4 on almost stock truck. only thing changed is the towing capabilities.

in case people aren't watching the other thread, there is a mod day that is being set up at my place in lake stevens, WA (near everett) on may 5. check it out here

Ben, that link on licensing is from 2007. Much has changed I think

Smar, note that the FJ forums has a mod day planned on the same day... And that one is hosted in a warehouse. I think the guy was getting a lift, too? Just sayin. I just wish everything wasn't planned that weekend - 2 mod days, an offroad trip, and supergame. Gotta pick :p

Shit, you're right. I hadn't looked at the date
I think the laws are still the same. Here's the most accurate piece of info I found...
    http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.09.420

As I understood it: An out of state, registered vehicle (street legal or not) with a valid ORV permit from that state are fine. And, a valid WA registered vehicle that is street legal does not require an ORV permit, but a Discover Pass is is still required for anyone, regardless if you're out of state of not.

If you guys are camping, were you thinking Fri. or Sat.? Or both?

I've gotten hooked on Local Motors stuff. Even if the car isn't completely ideal, the company itself is badass.

Sorry, I guess it is a private club meet. I'm just looking at my calendar. I'm already going to supergame so I didn't pay attention.

Go to fjcruiserforums.com and look at the April mod day thread... Which has a date in may, lol
