Height of antenna? How far above the cab is it? What type of antenna? Make sure the antenna is properly grounded

Firestick "Road Pal", 4', mounted on grounded mount in back passenger corner of bed.

I'll update once I've got enough go juice (coffee) to actually get off my butt and get something done.

Just called Wheeler's and they're willing to drop ship w/no tax from ARB in Renton. I'll be about 20 minutes away tomorrow afternoon... Really, really trying not to pull the trigger on some Dakar rears and 886s..

    Anyone running Dakars?

Yeah buddy, love em! I have no complaints. They articulate well but they are prone to "squeaking".

I also added a 1" tapered block in the rear for addtl. clearance, but it stiffened up the ride even more. I prefer a stiff ride though (haha, funny funny) so it's all good to me. I want to eventually remove the blocks and get the FamousFab shackle flip like Mike (those things are 100% beefy).

    Werd!

Might just have to swing by ARB tomorrow afternoon..

Do you have that extra leaf in your pack? I know they sell an overload type spring that will give you more lift - instead of using a block.

$350 w/no tax is a pretty good deal, was going to try and do the Old Man Doug spring swap, but honestly I think the old saying of "Polishing a Turd" kind of applies..

Ahh I've been sinking a ton of money into this rig lately..

I didn't get the extra leaf. It was complete kit from 4wp, and didn't have the option.

Okay. You should be fine with a 4' antenna. That's what I use and my SWR is damn near perfect. Have you tuned your antenna to the CB yet?

    Mike,

If you're still down to do some quick electrical mods tomorrow after work, let me know. We can likely do it at my place since it's close to your work. My garage can fit one truck, and another in the driveway (provided it's not pouring down rain).

I have run into a conundrum of sorts; trying to figure out if I can truly do the ABS Kill-Switch mod and the Yellow Wire Mod without conflict. My head hurts from reading so many pages (50+) of redundant information.

Of all the gurus on TW, no one has been able to give me a straight answer yet, so I guess I will be the guinea pig.

Still down for it. I typically like working one truck at a time to make sure we haven't disabled both, plus better to have two sets of eyes on a project :)
I think the 4L TRAC for you will be the most important thing to do. I've been running this long without the ABS mod, and it isn't a dealbraker. I think it's just going to make 4HI better to use.

I'll probably run by Radio Shack tonight for some parts. I eventually want some good factory-like switches, but for now I'm just going to get something to do the job.

Bahh.. just got done tuning, had good SWR on low end of freq. spectrum (1.5), Hi on channel 40 (3).. was picking up a lot of chatter, even skip chatter from Georgia. Trimmed until I had SWR of 1.2 (Chan 1) and 2 (Chan 40). Now I've got nothing.

I live pretty close to a truck stop, so I should be hearing a shit load of chatter.

This is starting to get frustrating.

Checked continuity and for dead shorts, checked ground... Last option I suppose is bad SWR meter.

Think I already trimmed too much of this antenna anyways.

Sounds good to me. If I can't do both, I will definitely opt for the TRAC mod, since that will be more beneficial. That one should be super-quick though, 5 min. tops.

Assembling the "circuit" for the ABS mod will take a few minutes, crimp a couple terminals, add a quick-splice, and then test the switch. If it works, I will have to find a spot to mount the switch - I'm thinking right above the TPMS Reset button, and mount it vertically if space allows.

This is the switch I have:

Just a heads-up, I would advise against ordering from these guys (lightexports.com) and my apologies if any of you already did (based on my recommendation). Just pay the extra few bucks and get bulbs from a more reputable source or local store.

Reasons being: they charged my card instantly, which is fine and I got an confirmation email.

But, there has been no shipping status update, my order still hasn't been processed, their Toll-Free # goes to voicemail immediately, they haven't responded to my email/contact us inquiries.

I made the mistake of checking their BBB profile....GAWD 20 complaints in the last 12 months!!!
These guys do not operate a good business, and I would not recommend ordering from them.

This is not reassuring at all! Oh well, at least it was only $7.

You know that you can call your credit card and reverse charges, right? I've done it on a restaurant that decided to double their tip, and I've also won out against Redbox.

I was in Boise for work and rented something. They claim I never returned it, but I stated the date and described in detail the location where I returned. Redbox cut the charge in half, my credit card covered the rest up to all but $1. In the end, I had to pay $1 for a movie I had supposedly stolen.
From then on, I take a video on the phone of me returning any Redbox movie. I know it makes me look like I'm paranoid, but t's the only way you have proof that you really returned it (maybe the machine malfunctioned, maybe someone goofed looking at their monitor at work).

That's awesome, way to cover your ass Mike! I bet you get some weird looks from people waiting behind you though.

Do you do a narrative in the video too? "The date is xx-xx-xx, time xx:xx. I am now placing "Monkey Quest IV" in the RedBox Receptacle. Mission completed, logging off"

At $30 a disc it gets serious, yo :D

lol I have a Netflix movie in queue called "The Monkey Hu$tle." I'm hoping it's one of those terrible-awesome movies, like "Santa's Slay".
