If the voltage isn't enough a bigger wire will allow still more juice is what I meant

Yeah, and please everyone know I'm not trying to diss on anyone's setup or brand. Just wanted to mention here what i've found from researching a bit on here and other forums. I did a LOT of reading before finally purchasing a couple batteries for my setup. I know a lot of people hate Optimas for example, but I went with them simply because my friend has had good luck, and he was the one that did most of my wiring.

Please take the info given however you like

That would definitely give less loss, but the tacoma alternator still has a maximum voltage it puts out, which is not in the suggested charge range for the battery in question. It sounds like you might be able to put in some ?diode? that tricks the truck into pumping out higher voltage, or possibly just max voltage, longer but... shrugs*

I'll leave this alone now, getting a little off topic. If anyone would like more information please feel free to do a little googling on the subject and searching on the forum.

    Thanks all!

There are two main issues. One is, as mentioned, AGM type batteries require 14.7VDC to get fully topped off and be healthy. The 2nd issue is the alternators in 2nd and 3rd gens are designed with fuel economy in mind. They are purposely made to charge based on load demand and by default will not have an output at much over 13.9-14VDC.

In this case bigger wire will not change the output of the alternator. However, there mods out there that remove the output voltage restrictions on the stock alternator systems and will allow them to charge at a much higher rate. IIRC, some are getting rates as high as 15VDC.

It is a big thread, but there is a lot of good info about all this stuff in here.

Yes, that's against the rules. We had an individual come in here and get on our case about a similar scenario and got this thread temporarily shut down. However, if you mention what you're selling and it's a good deal... I might just happen upon the ad and post it up. No promises.

    Just putting this out there...

I bought a set of 4 black matte SCS F5 wheels - 16x8 with 0 offset. I haven’t even opened the boxes but you can see the details and the date on the receipt.

I decided to go with Stealth6’s instead. I’m hoping to get my money back from someone who wants instant gratification, or trade for stealth6’s in gunmetal. :)
