It's a 2000 Nissan pathfinder. I thought BradyT88 would like to see the rubber spacers I used to keep it from knocking against the mount/top hat. Not the most practical project or vehicle, I know, but it's still fun. All that work is just another reason to buy a BAMF tacoma instead

I did actually. I may try something like that in the near future if it still knocks after I flip the top hat. Thanks!

Questions on these. In the event of a failure what do you have any internal spring? Like if my shock breaks I'm not screwed cuz of the spring...? Prob a noob question but I'm interested in these just don't quite understand them yet. Second could I have these and not own a nitrogen tank or is that pretty much a necessity.

In a total failure you would be on the bump stops It would be a rough ride but you could limp off the trail. And I highly recommend a N2 tank at least a rental for a month or so until you get them diled in how you like them.

Yep, but I think a total failure is pretty unlikely. These things are big compared to my 2.5x16" Kings I have for my rears, obviously they are shorter but they are a lot bigger around.

Yeah I don't see it happening unless a rock or branch got up in the wheel well some how. And a standard Coil Over would be toast as well if that happened.

    Too many to list now.
Seals are rated to 5000 psi, I'm not too worried about those.

Not sure if Jerry mentioned this, but I heard Jerry blew one of his seals by adding too much pressure so it leaks, and he just fills it up every time he wants to wheel and it lasts him the day of wheeling.

    Jerry can confirm I guess.

If that is true then I think it would take a pretty catastrophic fail to cause problems.

These things are way tougher than most folks give them credit for. If they fail its no different than busting a coil you'll figure out how to get it off the trail even if it means whittling a peg leg for it.

Curious if anyone has tried using these in the rear for Go-fast stuff? Could you put a 16" or something in the back and do away with leaf's and be considered LT in the rear? and would they perform as well as Bypasses/SUA?

I blew the inner seal so my lower chamber would be pressurized to 350 with in a few days. It was a small leak and I would just let out some pressure in the lower chamber when the ride go too stiff. It never leaked out of the strut just chamber to chamber.

You need somthing to locate the axle so you would have to link it to run them without leafs.

You would just be linked at that point. There is an LT guy somewhere (not on here I don't think) that somebody posted a pic of that is running these in the rear on a 4 link setup believe and an LT kit up front.

Yea that's what I figured. Wasn't sure if there was some other way of doing it.

I was out tearing up a nice rutted out trail yesterday and got a lot of compliments from the guy riding with me about how smooth my front end is. And I agree. Kills my 886's. Hit some of the stuff hard enough to put the whole front end in the air and it lands nicely.

The only complaint I have is the rebound is harsh. They bang they rebound so hard. JW and I fixed that a little by increasing the pressure in the lower chamber, but I lost that increase when temps dropped 50* outside since I don't have N2 to put back in them yet.

Once I have my DMZ kit installed (hopefully in a couple weeks) and some N2 to add some pressure back to them, I will head out to the dunes and really give them a go.

He'd better be there! and I should be too. haha

If you already have ext. travel Kings or Icons then I don't know if it is worth spending the money for the swap. I was upgrading from 5100's so I was already looking at spending money on Icons and decided to give the ORI's a try. They are sure nice, but I have no comparison of them to Icons or Kings.
