x2. Could a set of these potentially be used for the rear too?

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I think they would be just the same as anything out there. You will be rebuilding them more offten as the salt shortens the life of just about everything.

The down sides would be you need a nitrogen bottle to fill them (cheaper in the long run then having them filled) they will ride a little stiffer on the road then coil overs but off road they will prefrom awesome!

They have a lot of up sides as you have posted and in my book the ups out weigh the down sides.

The only way they could be used in the rear would be a low pressure or linking the rear. IMO i dont think its worth it unless your linking it smooth body shocks are just fine for leaf springs.

The 10'' stroke ORI's with the BAMF top plate.

ORI's next to extended travel KING coil overs. With the smaller body of the ORI there is no issue with the UCA hitting the strut at full droop like some coil overs have.

How are these at high speed desert stuff? Wondering how quickly they will fade doing fast stuff :) I like the thought of extra travel :)

my only concern looking at the ORI design is possible oil heating, nitrogen wont have as many many issues, it would be something you would probably want to bring along for desert trips :p

I see they have a piggyback for more nitrogen, but no where to really move the oil, sub'd for an answer

The STX struts have done very well in the ultra 4 races like KOH. They were desinged for sand rails so they do pertty damn good. I dont do desert runs but i have first hand experience with high speeds on fire roads with no fade. Once tuned you should have an issue runing fast in the desert. The resi will help with the high speed stuff as well.

idk about you but even desert set-ups require playing with nitrogen levels, hell on my truck I had just gotten the nitro setup to where I wanted based purely on the ride

yah I started at 200 in the rear at 220 now, front was played with to remove some of the harshness, front is a little more based on spring though

So these are a internal bypass air shock and to tune them you change pressure you can also add and remove some dampening by cracking them open and modifying the bypasses inside the strut. Its kinda like changing your valve stack on a normal shock just no parts to buy.

That said they will never replace coil overs and bypasses but for a guy that want the adjustabilities without have to buy new coils and re valving thier shocks they are the ticket. Ive seen a few LT guys running them and love them so its all on what your going for. Do i think they would work in the desert absolutely if you were running a double setup with 2 ORI's once tuned they would preform awesome in just about any environment you but them in.
