I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
These have internal bumps so you don't have to worry about that I'm trying to work the top plate on the 8" struts so you don't even need the rubber bumps. I couldn't tell you how they compare myself but with the set up you have in the rear you couldn't get going fast enough in the whoops to make them fade. The STX strut was designed for the high speed stuff they are running them in KOH at 90+ on buggies. They will never replace CO's and bypasses at high speeds. but for you they would preform just fine.

I edited my above post adding this, "Had a thought, do these really fade much at all since they are just air shocks (no oil in them right?) filled with Nitrogen? I know that tires filled with nitrogen don't change psi hardly at all from cold to hot, but what about in these shocks?"

And I will probably have a DMZ kit or a custom SUA setup with Engage 50T leafs before or at the same time I would get these, so I will be going much faster... haha Basically I am going to upgrade the rear to LT but don't want my 5100's up front to hold me up until I can afford front LT.

I did know KOH uses them, maybe I will have to look into some of that more.

Do you have the fully compressed and extended numbers on those 8" ORI's handy?

According to Bilstein my 5100's are 17.03" coll and 22.56" ext. I'm pretty sure I'm bumping out before the shocks over compress or I would have had problems by now, not positive if I could get any more droop from longer shocks, although the ORI's are apparently a little shorter.

That would mean they compress to about 14.4" which is way smaller than the Tacoma can compress to...

There is oil in them the upper chamber has Ethylene Glycol (full strength antifreeze) and the lower chamber has 10w Fork Oil

Yeah that's where the top plate comes in. I have to tweak the top plate for the 8's as we have only installed 10" stroke struts as this time. We have been waiting for these 8's to come in so i can modify the top plate to fit the Tacoma's range of movement. We will be doing this with a Uniball Uca to make sure you get the most travel out of the setup. Some set up's will have to have limit straps to prevent ball joint binding. Once i get these 8's in "should be next week" I'll have travel numbers for you guys.

Was at Jerry shop this weekend and got the 8" ORI in. Got a nice top plate designed that maximizes the full stroke and no need for a limit strap. Compared to my extended travel icons it gained about .5" down travel but a lot more up travel than before. I can stuff my 35's down to the factory bump. Thy ride great also.

Awesome I ordered a set as well, what PSI did you charge the upper/lower chambers? What ride height did you go with? Are you running a limit strap? and more pics if you got them.:D

Went with 95 psi in the lower. Unsure on the upper as the regulator gauge was broke. I just put a level on my frame and brought it up until level with the rear

It's about .5" higher than my icons where it's set

Does that top hat let you use the ORI internal bump like Jerry was planning on or do you still have to have the factory bump? I imagined longer top hats than that...

Factory bump is perfect for my 35's. my UCA would hit my fender well if I used the ORI for bump.

Going with longer/taller top hat would require a strap or letting the UCA hit and limit your down travel. Currently with these hats it hit full droop at the perfect spot.

I'm surprised your UCA's hit before your 35's. My 33's hit first.
    I see.

I have the icon billet UCA. We cycled it with no shock and the UCA hit well before the 35 hit the fender well. I am running fiberglass fenders also.

Hey Jerry you should find someone with a 6 in drop bracket lift these would be another option for them

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
They really cant get any more travel then a 3" lift could so it would be a lot of wasted travel they would have the run a 12" or at big spacer on the top.

Yeah we set them up for full droop without limit straps but you would have some crazy up travel if we went up the the ORI's full bump. I think with 33's and some stock bump shaving you can stuff the tires nice.
