Anyone wanna start reproducing the original 4199160081 or have the old style lying around?
Decals before they replaced them with the 4199160082 decals

OP, I know @BartMaster1234 has duplicated decals on his welder restoration and his arcade cabinet build. Maybe he can hook you up.

Who the hell is using a diff locker at highway speeds?!

By the way, that sticker is just saying that you should only ENGAGE the locker below 5mph. You can go faster than that once it's engaged if you really wanted to.

Not that any brand (ARB, Harrop, etc...) would recommend that you go busting down the freeway at 75mph with your locker engaged... That's not what a locker is for.

i wanted something so the back tire will not lose traction on slick surfaces and only one wheel spins
the diff lock I THOUGHT could solve that issue but they told me no, this was in 98 or 99 so memory fades a bit
2nd gens have traction control to help this issue, i imagine 3rds do as well

posi traction or limited slip is what i thought i could use it for

Don't you have a 4x4? An open diff 4x4 WILL have more traction than a locked 2wd/prerunner. A locker on a 2wd is just for doing donuts, lol

If you're on dryish pavement, there is zero need for a locker anyway.

I'll drive around town, and even on the hiway in 4wd, when it's raining/snowing. It makes merging into traffic that much easier since you don't have to baby the throttle, and you can get up to speed quicker. Only time it kind of sucks in when you are doing tight-ish turns, like in a parking lot, and the front wheels will bind. Having a locker engaged then is even worse, though. I usually plan ahead enough that I disengage the 4wd before I get to the parking lot, or need to make a U-turn, etc.

A locker on a 2wd pickup is semi-pointless, IMO. Think about it. There's no weight (i.e. no traction) over either rear wheel. The increase in traction from having them both spin is marginal. WAY better to have the front wheels spinning, where all the weight is.

I used to have the two wheel drive taco w a rear diff lock. The rear diff lock was great with the 4x2 only when there was real good traction. It is damn near useless in the snow in fact the truck did better in snow without the rear diff locker.

Yeah, on icy snowy roads there can be times where you don't want both rear wheels spinning together. At least if there's on wheel not spinning, it has a bit of static friction which means you don't slide.

Both rear wheels spinning = righteous burnout

I call the grey wire mod the donut button.

Did the grey wire mod and now I strictly use my locker going 80+ on the highway.
