I will create a separate thread for the Darling Hydroline weekend at beginning of April , so we keep this one only for the Ottawa valley route for sometime in May

Requested the gpx files from gravei travel, in the meantime I might have gotten the route from another website. See in red,the long line.

It looks like it might be a stretch and possibly not so interesting to start from close to USA.
Maybe one idea is to start from around Plevna, Ontario area and go north west.
Like someone else suggested, maybe hit part of the swisha loop (Also in the picture, north of the long red line) , then go east and come down towards Pembroke, and At some point turn south again into Ontario.

Dates wise, I would suggest May 29th weekend.

    Comments?

Found a map too, imported into Gaia (blue line). Plevna / Palmerston Lake going northwest sounds like a good plan, good for around 220 km of trail route. We can also do the portion of Round-Algonquin route on the way back (pink line).

Curious where you found that map. That Round Algonquin Route is the one I organized last year with the Bancroft Overland Club. @Shveet was along for that trip. The end point is my cottage.

agreed.. where did you get that red line'd map @3JOH22A?

@ODSC1 I just checked my maps. none of mine show the starting point. only person i shared my map with is @honkonbobo (who stitched up 5 or 6 parts) but the start of that is already on the Mazinaw.

Anyone knows how would be the swisha loop from Rolphton, through the zec, going towards Pembroke?

I think it was from your Google Drive folder with photos from the trip. :notsure: Delete the files or make them non-public.

    I'm sorry
    :annoyed:

I'm doing what i can to delete any traces of it,
removed the google drive link and deleted the files
deleted the day 1 file i sent to honkonbobo,
double checked the file that i thought it shared
and threw myself at @3JOH22A's feet to delete his copy of it.

It's not that big of a deal lol. Once we've done the route once or twice more I'd make it public minus the stop at the cottage. Thanks though for stopping the spread!

back on track of things, i like where that Blue line cuts through Barry's Bay. there is a donut stand that shows up Saturday mornings about 20 minutes from there. Best donuts on the face of the earth.

Also Madawaska Coffee is ground there and they do have a little coffee shop there. 10/10 worth a stop.

The road North going to Round Laker is something i've actually wanted to do for quite some time. To my understanding, it's basically a 1 lane gravel road.

But regardless, @vonclicas What's your idea for the trip? where abouts would the starting point be?

    That's an option.
If we want to do part of swisha, we could come out around pembroke and do the pink like.

I suspect Swisha will be heavily overgrown, especially at the beginning of season.

There is a neat abandon air strip at Round Lake Rd and Turners Rd.

    I am thinking about Plevna.
It works for most of the guys that come from southern ontario, also for the guys from Ottawa region. This could also potentially allow us to do the south side of Swisha Loop.
Doing only the south side of swisha leaves us the chance to do the Swisha again at another time through the north side, without having to repeat the same trail.
