Thanks all. I ended up with the Winchester field ultimate 101.

After all my gift cards was able to limit out of pocket cash to around $200 . So I can't complain.

I am a Mossberg Owner, I have hunted ducks with the same 500 pump since 1997 and it hasn't missed a beat. I also have an 835 for Turkeys. But I have bought Two Mavericks in last few years, I now have an 88 pump and the Maverick Over and Under. I wanted to see what I thought about an ou before I spent a lot of money on a ou so I went with Maverick. Its actually a decent gun. Comes with two chokes. And it seems like its a pretty well built gun.

Great recommendations here - and I totally agree that fit and feel are driving factors in selection within your price range. O/Us are fairly simple mechanically but you can easily check out the ratings on various manufacturers. Also, keep an eye out for used opportunities. Perhaps drop by the stores close to you and let them know what you are looking for - they may be willing to call you and hold something for you if you've established a personal contact.

My first shotgun was a Sears side by side that I bought when I was 20 years old. Simple but it felt good and worked well for me for trap and skeet. I still have it. Inexpensive doesn't necessarily mean bad...and we've all seen people who could powder birds with the biggest piece of crap shotgun ever. Fit and feel.

I was eventually sold on a Citori after shooting several that my broth-in-law has - a 625 and a 725. He swears by his 625 as his go to gun..and always seems to score better with it than the 725. Fit and feel.

I bought my Citori 2 years ago....42 years after buying my Sears. Buy what you can afford now and when the time is right move to that next one.

Congrats on the purchase! I was going to say buy the Winchester! I believe the new ones are made by FN so they are good to go. I was in the same boat as you last year and ended up buying a used Citori. I just shoot Browning’s well.
