Overhead Switch Panel

I just received my overhead switch panel OHP6 for my 2015 Tacoma (2-gen).

I'm having problems installing it. Unless I am doing something very stupid, the panel just does not seem to fit.

The panel does not even seem to be shaped right to go into the space where I took out my old sunglasses holder. What am I doing wrong?

Did a search and saw you sold one. Any thoughts?

 

You have to cut out a great deal of the inside plastic and drill holes to mount the screws.

I have one and it looks exactly like that. Some surgery with a dremel and it works great.

 

Here is what it looks like installed. I also had them custom build me a FTM400 ham radio mount for the front.

Yes, some slight modifications to the backside of your overhead console will be necessary. It’s a tight squeeze but it will fit! The 2 ear tabs on each side of the new panel are for mounting. Once in the hole you can put a screw or nut/bolt though the factory backing and into the panel to secure it.

 

That HAM panel turned out solid!

 

Alrighty, then! I guess the first step of any project should be "Make sure you are smart enough to know what to do."

Again, I wrongly thought it was a matter of snapping the SG holder out, and snapping the switch panel in. That's what I get for thinking.

BTW, When I was up in there I found a big plug that was not connected to anything. I assume it's for an option that I don't have. What is this supposed to connect to?

 

Looks like you don't have the backup camera in the mirror? Maybe that?

 

Oh man, I like that HAM panel waaaaaaay more than I should.

 

Could be. I have the Entune system which has the backup camera on the head unit screen.
