Not at all! He has all of his equipment. We’re conducting our training with him and he’ll be online very soon.

I’ll notify you when I get word he’s up and running.

Just switched to OTT from OV Tune 2.0, only driven it for about 100 miles but here’s my experience so far.
It’s a completely different truck! There is a noticeable improvement to torque in the lower range and it’s SMOOTH, but very sensitive. Part of this can be explained because I’m not used to my truck actually accelerating (instantly) when I touch the throttle . Rev hang seems to be significantly reduced as well which makes for easier MT shifting. We’ll see as time goes on, sometimes I get a hard shift because I am subconsciously expecting some rev hang and there isn’t nearly as much now.
I might just be clumsy-footed, but the medium and even the mild tunes were way too sensitive for me, so I’m currently running the lite and love it. It definitely seems like with the medium tune, 90% of the toque is in the first 5-10% of pedal travel. I don’t know what the actual numbers are but that’s what it seems like.
I not only keep 1st and 2nd gears engaged at low speeds without fearing cantankerous behaviors out of the motor, but I actually have some decent control of torque output at these low speeds (think ~700-1000 rpm). OV Tune was better than stock, but still lacking in this department. The “1500 rpm lurch” has almost entirely disappeared—I think this has something to do with a poorly implemented digital fuel cutoff on the stock rig?
I’m sure I’ll come up with some gripes and complaints as I drive it more and as the truck “learns” my driving behavior and makes adjustments, but so far it’s a significant step up from what I had. Many thanks to all the tuners out there for their work in unlocking the potential of these trucks.

About to get my tune done going OTT! Heard nothing but great things about it, what are the different tune options, is it lite/medium, medium/mild, and mild/spicy?

Sorry for the double post, I'm just so excited about this. I just did something I mostly haven't done since I was a teenager--I went for a drive, just for fun! MT shifting is definitely WAY BETTER and I'm getting used to the throttle and lack of rev hang. Here's a few things I can do now that I used to couldn't:
-I can manage insanely slow speeds in each gear without any fuss, 6mph in 2nd, 15 mph in 3rd, 20 in 4th, 25 in 5th, and 30 in 6th (granted, this is on flat ground and I have approximately zero reserve torque to accelerate, but the truck will do it without any drama).
-I can shift 1-2 at low speed smoothly without accelerating, this one is kind of hard to explain but maybe some of the MT guys will get what I'm saying. Basically with stock and even OV Tune, the truck could be fussy at low speeds and it just refused to let me do this; smoothly disengaging the clutch was tough in 1st because the throttle wouldn't respond well, it was either trying to keep going or would fall flat on it's face and you'd get a clunk or drivetrain whiplash when clutching in unless you got the timing just right (which was inconsistent and unpredictable). Then when trying to engage second, it was kind of the same thing, either the motor would be dead at idle or would try to "keep going" requiring clutch slipping and a tad bit of unwanted acceleration. With OTT, it just does what I tell it to, no fuss! ...you know, kinda like a motor (not forged in hell) ought to do!
-I can inch forward or backwards with precision much more easily. Technically, I could do this before, but not without an unacceptable amount of clutch slip. I mean, sheesh, you don't need 1,200 rpm to inch forward a couple of inches! With my old tune, there was just no precision in throttle inputs between idle and the low 1,000's RPM. Easing onto the throttle, it would just "refuse" to do jack 5#!T and then finally it would give me way more than I asked for, only to fall flat on it's face if I tried to back off a bit. Not anymore though, OTT fixes this!
-On a similar note, I can easily engage 1st at approximately idle RPM and pull away now. I could do this before with OV Tune, but it was significantly more difficult and not as smooth.

I don't want to dump on other tunes. OV Tune is amazing in it's own right and stopped me from probably selling my truck. I still highly recommend it. As others have mentioned, no tune does it all and one's preferences are highly personal. For me, someone who likes to lug their motor at low RPMs like a total jackass, OTT is the best.

Same basic experiences as @arthur106 with my automatic on the Light/Mild OTT tune by Paul of @PNWTacoma in January and it's just gotten better and smoother over time. Worth every penny.

We all add things and accessories to our trucks. Many, many things for a lot of us. This has to be the single best thing available for a much better driving and responding truck for me. It's used every day and appreciated every day. If I had to pick just one thing to keep and get rid of all the others, this is what I would pick to stay with.

Hey guys, any way to just buy the file? I already have the cable and software to do it myself.

Just switched to OTT from Kdmax tune from John at Kelly Tuning today only driven it for about 50 miles but here’s my experience so far.
It’s a completely different truck! There is a noticeable improvement to torque in the lower range and it’s SMOOTH, but very sensitive which I love. I think if you have a tacoma you should get the OTT tune. I feel like I have a new truck now. John is a great guy and explain the process very well and great customer service. He lives here in Albuquerque if you need tuning hit him up don’t wait. Thanks John for the service.

What were the differences you noticed between the 2 tunes? Which version of the Kdmax tune did you install (e.g., lite, aggressive, etc)?

    Stuff I don't need.
I have the OTT Lite with Spicy ECT. I notice a shudder when on the highway and at 1500 rpms and when going uphill with spicy at 2700 RPMs. Anyone else getting this behavior with their tunes? This was put on a 3.5L 2023 with 3k miles on it. Driven it 2.5k miles since the tune...starting to get annoying. I have another thread on this but wanted to ask other OTT tune holders if they have experienced it?

TBH I sometimes get a slight shudder on lite on my 2022 that goes away when the truck warms up. IDK if that is the same circumstance that you're experiencing.

I have been running this tune for several months now and I am very happy with it. I love the improved torque at lower rpm's. That was my main reason for getting this tune. Recently, I have gunned it from a stop to get ahead of oncoming traffic and it just gets up and goes. I am at speed before I know it and letting off the throttle, pretty darn quickly, especially for a DCLB with a camper. No wobbly and unpredictable acceleration like before. It is just nice to be able to get out there quickly and go, and have a predictable throttle and power curve.

    As a matter of fact...

I gunned it yesterday on a merging highway...I came to a complete stop at the yield and saw an opening and took it. [Looking path forward and gauging distance opening for the car I was gonna get in front of]

The torque was very noticeable and I got to 55+mph rather quickly.

I started with Mild/Medium and decided it was a bit too much considering I'm stock with no additional weight.

Been on OTT Lite/Mild with Gear Lock since Sep 18, 2022.

You had wobbly and unpredictable acceleration before? That's interesting.

Glad to hear you're enjoying OTT.

Maybe wobbly isn't the right word(bourbon verbage), it was more like an unpridictable power band on an old elsinore with a dirty carb, it would kind of go but I had to really step on it, and then it would feel like it wasnt sure if it should keep the same trim, then it would find its power and take off. Now it is very linear and smooth all the way through.

    @banjoGrampa

Well, I kinda understand now. And linear...that is definitely true of the torque now more pronounced in this truck.

Boy, I feel like I haven't experienced half the stories I read here about auto transmissions in the 3rd Gen Tacoma.

But then again, this is my first NEW truck and with a Toyota 4X4.
