Thank you for the response. It was about what I expected. I think, (and I'm sorry to say), that it seems Vagabond is a victim of their own success. I do hope that their QC does not suffer. If I can, I avoid doing any business with California companies as (in my experience) their customer support is really bad, they seem to be quite rude and it takes forever to receive any shipment. I'm sure there are better, just not in my experience. There are so many things I like about the OVRLND camper, like the full pop up, straight side walls, the alacart (sp?) menu, tent canvas color choice, etc. I am by no means criticizing Vagabond. As for the quality and workmanship, have not heard anything that would keep me from an order. But the long lead time is a major factor. I am definitely going to look more into the OVRLND choice, and being NOT in California is a big plus. (LOL). Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. As for the meet up, I'm in the Tampa Bay area, so I don't think it will be any time soon. But I am looking forward to checking out the N/NW someday.

Please, let's hear more from you OVRLND campers, when you're not too busy overlanding. :)

I have an OVRLND on a Frontier. I considered Vagabond when I was shopping for a camper but they were only making them for Tacomas at the time. Build quality is solid and Jay and the OVRLND guys are awesome to work with. Love the space from the vertical walls, especially on the short bed. I need to find time to redo my interior build, but would rather be out exploring with my limited free time.

I researched thoroughly and decided an OVRLND was the way to go for my wife and I. Should be going to pick it up in Flag in the May-ish timeframe. Ordered in the middle of the pandemic, and Jay gave me a timeframe, then made it shorter as he was able.

Jay is awesome to work with. Super friendly, answered all out questions, and was happy to customize anything we wanted. I am guessing from the lead times and general market that he is way overloaded with questions and orders, but he still was happy to have a call with my wife and I, and told us call anytime. Also completely honest saying we are happy to do the “custom whatever” for you for $XX, but you could probably do it yourself for $X by just doing X,Y,Z. Can’t speak highly enough of the customer service.

I can’t speak to the build quality yet, but I have been able to check out some others on friendly members of this forum and they look awesome. Higher quality, lower cost, and weight than a “project M” from four wheel. I have also heard great things about Vegabond, but planning to live in our truck for extended periods of time pushed me towards the OVRLND.

I am looking forward to picking up my camper, and building it out.

    Haha,
Well, I just got a OVRLND camper too. Jay and crew are awesome, super responsive, and my camper was done ahead of schedule. Jay is working on some cool new camper concepts and believes in the build so much he told me to "go out and break it! We'll be here to fix it up!". A recent poll shows that 12/10 would buy another one again.

I don't know what direction you're heading with this, but I just installed the Chinese knock off and its working great. They are exactly the same except the waterproofing of the electronics for mounting it outside under a van. I don't believe there is an auxiliary line built into our tanks and most if not all are diesel. I using a rotopax to feed mine on the outside of my camper. Let me know if you're still interested in the instal.

This is Crolison's OVRLND build posted in July, 2018. Q: Does anybody know if the drop down door opening was not ordered, would there be two more vertical supports where the hole is? :notsure:

I looked into these bc they are so much cheaper, however, I live at a higher altitude and would like to use it to go to different ski areas all of which are at high altitude. From what I have read the diesel heaters from Amazon don't have altitude adjustments?
I did call my local toyota service center and they said it shouldn't be a problem installing a standpipe in the stock gas tank. That is a good idea to use a rotopax for the the auxilary tank. I would love to see your install. Thanks!

Working on the post now. Be done in a few. Also these manual settings have been passed around from someone that apparently did extensive testing with it. A friend is current using his in Breck at 9,600 feet with out any adjustments. But totally understand the better safe than sorry route. Let you know when finished with the post.

Buying my (first) Tacoma this weekend and then putting a deposit down on my OVRLND! Already chatted with Jay a few times— what a guy like others have said.
I’m in Boise and would love to see one in person— would you be free for a tour?

I just finished building this frame of 10 series 8020 and put this plywood on top. I am stoked how it is going so far.

Yeah, Baby! That's what i like to see. Nice work, Dave. That high table top will work well as a night stands also when the bed is pulled out.

Thanks! Yes the night stand will help me not misplace my keys, wallet, phone, etc. Before I would have to fish these items out of the bed after I forgot and closed the camper. Now it just needs to warm up so we can go camping!
