Dyno numbers are great. But I’m actually more interested in road tuning and drivability in the real world(that’s why we’re all here!) no doubt Mat will come through if it’s anything like the ecu reflash:D that said.. I still like numbers lol

Stage 1 SC is more expensive than TT setup? Interesting...

The supercharger is more expensive than both turbos combined. Or at least I think thats what he said

Thats interesting, I would think the SC is a less complicated setup with fewer parts. So I would assume it would be cheaper...

I could be wrong, it happens a lot, but I swore I read that was the reason.

The C38 in the SC kit is significantly more expensive than k03 turbos...about double the price. It is what it is....so it is priced accordingly.

A lot of turbo kits (parts only) are way cheaper than a supercharger kit, but the real cost especially with the less expensive generic turbo parts comes in the amount of fabrication work and tuning you have to do to get it installed and running right. Which is why usually superchargers are referred to as 'bolt on' and cheaper, at least in previous Tacoma generations.

Makes sense. Will still probably go SC route as I would like to complete the installation in my garage at home. I could probably do the TC as well, but as mentioned would be more involved.

Pretty sure they are making both kits to be bolt-on.

Occasionally people post about finding turbo kits on eBay and the like for $300 or so and get exciting thinking they've found a way to boost without spending thousands like they thought they would, but those kits don't come with anything needed to make them work with any specific application...and that's where OVTune comes in with the product they're providing. The higher cost makes sense because you're buying something that has been tailored and made to work for your guys' trucks specifically, the R&D and testing has been done.

I side with the supercharger myself but it really just comes down to preference and what you plan on using your truck for

Other thing to consider is what it will cost when it comes to rebuilding these units and what the longevity will be. You need two turbos rebuilt comparer to one supercharger and they will probably have different longevity.
The early TRD superchargers need to be rebuilt around 100,000, but these are a different design

Define "bolt-on". Many turbo installs require drilling and tapping the oil pan. Then again, I could be wrong and the tacoma would just be easy. If I decide to go the turbo route, I've been considering ordering the dump pipes in advance to make the install a little easier. I have a town home with no garage and I'm too stubborn to pay someone to do it for me.

End user isn't welding tubing together. Educated guess based off of what they are trying to achieve. As user friendly a product as possible.

How far down the "bolt-on" spectrum do we want go go here? Have them install it, and drive your(plural) truck too? Lol.

There is going to obviously be end user mechanical competency and skill needed.
