Honestly his is the only time I've ever heard of that happening to a Tacoma and it even looks like he had an upgraded clutch kit in there when it exploded...he must have really been pushing it and there was probably already some kind of failure in there just waiting to happen. I've heard of it happening on sports cars but never one of our trucks. Crazy carnage though, would suck to go through that.

Not gonna lie, it lurks in the back of my mind every time I do a high RPM shift lol.

Yea, well Ford has. 10 speed transmission.

You mean more shifts not shorter, also just to me says, when the transmission goes boom, boom will also happen to your wallet. I drive a 12 speed automatic Big rig, same scenario! After awhile the none stop shifting does get annoying as heck.

Look at all that area under the TQ curve obtained especially at the lower RPM's. THat's where the turbos shine and will have an edge over the SC kit. Almost instant surge in TQ once those snails spool up which is what this engine is desperately needing. Kudos to OVT!

When you tow with it they'd spool up even faster.

Definitely going to be installing that URD clutch and floating ladder bar. Our Taco's will finally have some balls to back up the "TRD" badge but may consider adding a "OVT" badge on the tailgate instead.

What kinda logic is that? The people in my area love getting their dropped silverados and f150s "tuned" or supercharged. Same goes for their camaros (sometimes mustangs). You're not gonna tell me they hate their trucks, are you? I dont hate my truck. If theres an accessible turbo kit out there will I get it? Maybe.

I'd argue back if that 5.0 V8 is so mighty then why is he running a v6 EcoBoost v6 instead? Lol

Completely different. Especially on an engine that’s already running boost.

They aren’t complaining how the truck lacks bottom end, and how the trans logic sucks. I’ve seen a bunch of people here claim they only kept their taco because of this tune. Never heard of that from any other brand. Why? Because the powertrain of these trucks are kinda pathetic. To each of his own though. Some people are happy with what they got. Others may not really have anything else to compare it to so just consider everything normal, fine and dandy.

I’m trying to take the truck for what it is; A heavy midsized truck with a drivetrain that’s really meant for a van/suv.

Well thats because we dont like our vehicles for the super speed they have, but for other reasons. Now, if my tacoma can be a fast tacoma Id like it even more.
