All this discussion about crazy power but let’s not forget the other most critical component..brakes!
In my case with so much additional weight, I can already feel the stock brakes working overtime. Now with the TT Kit I “might” be going faster more occasionally I will have to factor that price into the whole thing. Anyone have an extra 10k laying around:confused:

I've heard stories of people taking the brakes off a 1st gen tundra and using them on these Tacomas, they'll work but you can't run any wheel smaller than 17"

With anything near that power you don’t want a/t tires that’s for sure

Im sure AT tires would be fine as long as im not going over 100mph. They are pretty heavy tires

honestly the way I've always seen it is FI upgrading in my world requires a BBK up front at a minimum. but i also planned to include a heavy duty positraction clutch style diff to use the power. under 30mph I'm already at the limit of traction easily. if i have power i want to be able to use it. giving up the locker is a no brainier for me personally. thing is, that diff isn't made in the MT size. the 8.75" rear is relatively new and it's not known if Eaton or whoever will even develop one. so just include a new rear end as well..

It’s not the weight it’s issue of traction. Light rear end with a/t is scary and x10 that in the rain
A/t great off road, subpar everywhere else

I do not know for certain as I have no prior experience with the Atkinson thing, but from what I have read the cycle itself is not hardware related and instead very much how the motor is tuned. In OVTune we trust. However, I'm pretty sure the Atkinson cycle is not a power producing scenario, but rather a fancy valve timing to save fuel.

Staying in 6th while cruising? That's a tranny/shift table/tuning thing, not a turbo thing. Having more power may affect the shift tables and how they're tuned if the car has more low end power available, but it will ultimately depend on Mat's tuning and the driving scenario at hand.

I can say this for certain - do not spend thousands on a turbo kit just so you can stay in 6th while cruising. :)

For reals. Matt, who do we have to kill to make this happen? I mean, something like 15% of tacos are sold here in CA. Well check that, probably 50% of the tacos, and 15% of the Tacomas! Mmmm taco.

    Mostly stuff I built.
The first 2 are what look to be modified Mitsubishi Heavy Industries TD04-13t turbos. The most likely have the same small exducer housing and cartridge and probably the same shaft. The small exducer housing size is the key to the “extremely fast spool”. They likely share the same compressor housing however the second option will have a more aggressive machined billet compressor wheel and the compressor housing should be machined internally to match that wheel. So basically it they should spool the same but the 6+6 will build more boost than the first option.

The third option is a Garrett ball bearing turbo. Which means the shaft rides on ball bearings in place of bronze bushings. That sets it apart from the other 3 bushed turbo cartridges. I am assuming that the 3 kamak turbos are bushed shafts as there is no mention otherwise.
I offer little input on ball bearing turbos as most of my experience is with diesel turbos with the exception of the 3 Supras I have owned. I

The 4th is going to be a larger turbo than the first 2. It is also I believe to be a modified MHI turbo. Will have larger exducer and compressor housings. Thus it’s sligh slower spooling time and ability to support more HP.
