Designed for much less? You are obviously new to how much toyota over builds their vehicles. It’ll handle much more than it comes with from the factory, as has been the case for many years.

Speaking of rear end gears, notice how people shredding them are the ones with automatic sports with 8” vs OR/PRO/MT with 8.75”. I’ve yet to see a blown up 8.75 here.

no , I have a 6 cyl AT. When I towed anything of weight , I had my 1987 Chevy 1 ton 4wd . Bought the Tacoma when
I knew I would only be towing 3K for 10 miles or so , and 1800 lbs for 75 miles or so .

I personally am just looking to get some more fun out of this truck, don't really care for towing/hauling as I have a big chevy for that

Here is my daily driving experience. Truck accelerates nicely from a stoplight flowing with the traffic around me. Shifts crisply into 2nd and then 3rd and maintains pace and then shifts into 4th and falls on its face. I am now holding everybody up so I push the right pedal down a little bit to try to maintain the same acceleration rate. Truck ignores me and does nothing, I push the pedal a little further.

The truck then acts like a teenager and says fine! slams into 2nd and accelerates faster than the traffic around me. Now I have to let off and the truck shifts to 5th (I swear sometimes I hear it snicker). I have now spilled my coffee and am hissing like a cornered cat. I get to work and the receptionist smiles at me and says good morning. I tell her to f-off and stomp into my office. I am losing friends. Mat is my only hope.

I do not think I am so new to what Toyota's are rated for . Yes they can handle more than the quoted specs, as with all other brands of trucks . Do you really think that adding a couple hundred HP to the stock Tacoma will make it capable of towing as much weight as a 3/4 ton big three truck ? Rear end ratios in different diameters are not the same .

We can have a separate poll for this, but the majority of consumers for these TT kits are not looking to turn the taco into a towing machine, rather just have more power on tap when they need it.

My personal viewpoint of this whole upgraded performance is I want my Tacoma to feel like an ecoboost F150 gliding through gears with ease. It’s my daily driver. So why not?

But then for those who need to tow, there’s shit tons of 1/2 tons on the market say Craigslist you can have a regular day cab pickup for under 3 grand just to get the job done.

Yet you can keep a Tacoma as your daily same time and invest into a vehicle that retains the most value vs any vehicle on the road with exception to Jeep Wrangler.

Altitude has more of an effect on SC than turbos. Turbos are able to compensate for the thinner air, SC can't so you'll be getting less boost at the same rpm.

Wondering why you bothered getting the 6cyl? Seems like the extra power is a complete waste. I hear the 4cyl gets around town just fine.

Why would I ever want to tow that much with a Tacoma? I think you are missing the point behind why people want to add power to these trucks...

    Disagree

    More power = more fun

2.0 has made this truck exponentially better. Forced Induction turns it into a monster
