I’ve been using sport mode a lot lately and I feel like it’s starting to “learn” in that mode too. It’s still better than D which is constantly jumping between 3rd, 4th, and 5th when I’m trying to cruise at 50+/- If this engine had more power down low it wouldn’t be a huge issue that it wants to cruise at 1200-1400rpm.

I feel the same way. Driving in Standard (1-4 gears) and ECT is be these trick for getting to feel it’s intended power. The 5th and 6th gears are almost useless. I do shift to 5th when on freeway speeds.

I just hope the transmission shifting will be completely fluid and dynamic like a 10 speed Ecoboost F150 or a CVT. Just hate the rough shift points when having to accelerate.

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like my truck has been way better just by leaving it alone. The learning process left me with a truck that shifts pretty well from 1-4 but refuses to hold 5-6 on the freeway unless I force it to (put it in shift mode and shift up to 6th. Then leave it there). I use ECT occasionally when I want to accelerate a little quicker, but I haven’t felt the need to mess with everything the whole time I’m driving. I do think it took 20k miles for the truck to complete the learning process which is way too long. But once it got there it’s been pretty good.

I say this as someone who still hasn’t ponied up to buy an OVtune. I still want to do so just to get a little better performance. But the major issues with flat spots and the weird tip-in are long gone on the factory tune, at least for me. I think FI will do a lot more for my purposes than the tune alone.

I think that’s asking too much out of a conventional 6sp. It’s never going to mimic a CVT or 10sp. A CVT has infinite gears, totally different animal.
I’d love to see Toyota give the Taco an 8sp but knowing them that’ll be the 2028 4th gen haha.
I’ve said it before, but I see it as a fundamental issue of "engine & trans combo" power vs MPGs. It has power, but in order to get the MPGs, they completely threw drivability out the window.

This is why I want more power. Idc about MPG’s, I want drivability... and some extra power never hurts :D

none of my buisness, but 30k for one day is a waste IMHO.. I did a destination wedding (San Juan, Puerto Rico), and between her father paying for the reception dinner (restauraunt in old san juan), and good friend of hers reserving the ceremony location (Fort San Cristobal, think it was $600).. paid out of pocket for the minister ($300) and marriage license ($50 I think) (had to get blood testing done, and medical exam for the marriage license - island rules to disclose any disease (HIV/AIDS, etc..)). For the travel, rental car, food, wedding decorations, and other various items I think I spent about $5k.... that was 6 years ago.. and we enjoyed every minute of it because we treated it like a vacation (because it was)..

Don't. Just don't go there. I have been summarily overruled. Period.

So anyone know what the intake side will look like?

Yep spent 30k on my first wedding, I think our divorce went through on our 2 year anniversary, was fucking terrible. Being "forced" to spend that much on a wedding should be a huge warning sign.

It is my youngest daughter's wedding. Yeah shit happens. From what my wife says such weddings can be over $50k. I've been married 30 years.

Some of you have experience with the Orange Virus line I assume. What are the typical intake side set-ups?

    Nothing official yet.

I’m still waiting to hear back from the modifications made to exhaust system so Mat could do a full 15 psi dyno run.

I know Mat said 10 psi, but maybe he plans to test up to 15 to see if it can handle it???
